Max Verstappen has been with the Red Bull camp since his early racing days. The Dutchman has traveled a long distance from his debut in Torro Rosso (Red Bull’s sister team) to becoming an F1 icon with Red Bull. Although he has been integral to RBR, recent internal turmoil has inflicted new misery. Thus, rumors have surfaced about Verstappen’s potential early exit, ending his RBR contract, which is valid until 2028.

Recently, rumor mills have linked him to several outfits, such as Aston Martin and Mercedes. Meanwhile, the Silver Arrows chief Toto Wolff has openly shared his willingness to sign the triple champion. Therefore, amid all the speculations, he was asked about the “exit clause,” which is the gateway to a team swap.

When asked about the possibility of an exit clause in his Red Bull contract, Max Verstappen offered a cryptic and non-committal response, suggesting that such a clause might or might not exist. He explained that his current focus is on improving aspects of his performance this season, with thoughts of the future still far off his radar. Verstappen emphasized that he isn’t currently considering any changes.

Although Red Bull has confirmed Verstappen’s place in their lineup for the 2025 season and beyond, the upcoming changes in F1 regulations and the departure of engine partner Honda have fueled speculation about a potential move for the reigning champion. Verstappen acknowledged that while everyone in the paddock wants to win and some drivers frequently switch teams to achieve that, he has no intention of doing the same.

He values building a long-term, stable relationship with his team rather than bouncing between multiple teams during his career. Verstappen stated that his next move, if it happens, would likely be his last, but he also left the door open to extend his stay at Red Bull. For now, his future remains undecided.

Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, recently shared his perspective on pursuing Max Verstappen for a potential future move. He stressed the importance of trust in his current drivers and team, stating that success comes from providing full support and commitment to those already in place. Wolff clarified that he would only explore other options if circumstances took a drastic negative turn.

He further compared the situation to loyalty in a relationship, saying he isn’t interested in considering other drivers while focused on making the current partnership work. Wolff believes Verstappen holds a similar view, with both of them aligned in their values—neither would look for alternatives unless a change became absolutely necessary. Wolff’s comments suggest that while there may be mutual respect between him and Verstappen, both are firmly committed to their respective teams for now.
