The British driver and the German driver enjoyed their own era of dominance. The duo first started competing in 2009 when both McLaren and Red Bull possessed competitive cars. While Vettel dominated from 2010-13, Hamilton changed the face of F1 post 2013. He won six championships with Mercedes, whereas Vettel struggled with Red Bull before eventually jumping ships to Ferrari. That being said, Hamilton and Vettel had a rivalry of their own during the initial stages of their career.
However, after Sebastian Vettel moved to Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton formed a great bond with his counterpart. Not only that, the duo, as two of the oldest drivers on the grid, supported each other on several social issues. While Vettel retired in 2022, Hamilton continues to be an active contender for another record-breaking championship race. Having said that, during a recent interview with Wall Street Italia, the Mercedes star named Vettel as the driver who posed as a strong competitor. “I’ve always enjoyed racing against him, every race has always been a gritty challenge,” said Hamilton. Needless to say, the love shared between two acclaimed drivers of F1 is still not lost, and it’s a heartwarming sight for fans to witness camaraderie between two sporting giants.
Toto Wolff Dismisses Doubts On Lewis Hamilton’s Capability!
In a recent interview, Toto Wolff was asked to weigh his thoughts on whether Lewis Hamilton has it in him to win an eighth championship title at the age of 39. “The answer is clearly yes in capital letters,” replied Wolff. The Mercedes team principal added that Hamilton is a seven-time champion for a reason. Age is no excuse at all.
The key to glory is to provide him with a car capable of contesting for a championship. Toto Wolff, who recently signed a three-year extension contract with Mercedes, reaffirmed that he would hang around the paddock until he beats Red Bull Racing with Lewis Hamilton and accomplishes the latter’s unfinished business of winning record-breaking eight championship title.
