Sir Lewis Hamilton is the most decorated racer in F1 history. No one has won more races than him and more pole positions. He also has the most podium finishes for an F1 driver in the history of the sport. Moreover, the great Briton has won the same number of world championships as the great German racer Michael Schumacher. But the 39-year-old superstar wants to finish his career with the most titles. Now, the question is if he can be the first driver to win eight F1 World Championships. However, in the last few years, the most successful racer has struggled a lot because of the troublesome Mercedes car.

Finally, after two and a half years of wait, the great Briton managed to win his 104th Grand Prix. He has been through so many hard times in this period, especially after what happened in the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. That was shocking as Hamilton missed his golden chance to win the coveted eighth title to surpass Schumacher. There are still doubts if he can do it as he will turn 40 next year and will drive for the Prancing Horse. But after the win in the 2024 British GP, Hamilton did surpass Schumacher in one long-standing F1 record.

Previously, the Mercedes superstar had won eight races in the British as well as the Hungarian Grands Prix. Michael Schumacher had won eight races in the French Grand Prix. Hence, after winning the 2024 race at Silverstone, Hamilton recorded the most wins at a single Grand Prix. Moreover, it is great for the home fans as the great Briton made them proud once more. After winning the race at home, Lewis Hamilton thanked the fans and their support. Racing and winning at Silverstone have always been some of the favorite things of Hamilton to do. And he did just that this season.

Naturally, he was very emotional as he had been winless for almost three years. But in the 2024 British GP, the Silver Arrows had a strong outing. George Russell won the pole position in the qualifying session. Lewis Hamilton was second in the qualifying phase. However, quite early in the race on the final day at Silverstone, Hamilton managed to overtake his teammate and led the race for most of the time. Finally, he managed to beat the reigning champion, Max Verstappen, who finished second.

The 2024 season will mark the final season for the epic Hamilton-Mercedes collaboration. It has been the most successful team-driver duo in F1 history. Schumacher had won five titles with Ferrari. That was the previous best. But then Lewis Hamilton won six world championships with Mercedes between 2014 and 2020. He helped the Silver Arrows become a powerhouse. Moreover, in 2025, he will wear the iconic ‘Red uniform.’ But after the win in Silverstone in 2024, Hamilton said, “I love this team and appreciate their hard work.”

It has been challenging times for the German outfit, trying to catch up with Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari. However, the recent flexi front wing upgrades have made big difference for Mercedes. Since then, Russell won a GP and now, Hamilton ended his win drought. Perhaps the seven-time champion can win a few more races this season after all.
