Red Bull Racing, surprisingly retained their drivers lineup for the remainder of the 2024 season despite concerns over Sergio Perez’s decline. Perez has struggled to stay in top 5 all season long and hence, he was likely to be replaced during the summer break.

However, despite the championship being on the line, Red Bull gambled with Sergio Perez at least until the end of the year. That being said, RB’s junior program is equally heated up as major changes will be enforced from the Monza Grand Prix onwards. A surprise F2 call up was promoted by sudden changes in William Racing lineup.

Williams Racing had enough of Logan Sargeant following his crash at the Dutch Grand Prix. Team principal James Vowles ran out of patience and sacked Logan effective immediately. Notably, Sargeant had already lost his seat for the 2025 season to Carlos Sainz. However, James disallowed him to finish on a high as junior driver from Argentina, Franco Colapinto was promoted to replace Sargeant for the remainder of the 2024 season. That being said, with Colapinto moving up to Formula 1, his seat at MP Motorsport in Formula 2 has become available. And in a significant development, Red Bull junior driver Oliver Goethe will step in to fill the vacant seat, starting from the Monza race.

This marks a major promotion for Goethe, who has been one of the standout performers in Formula 3 this year. He was competing with Campos Racing after being associated with Trident last season. Joining MP Motorsport offers Goethe the opportunity to prove himself at a higher level of competition. By stepping up to Formula 2, Goethe will face a new set of challenges, including adapting to a more powerful car and competing against a more experienced field. However, this promotion also positions him closer to his ultimate goal of reaching Formula 1. Notably, Oliver Goethe will join fellow Red Bull juniors Pepe Marti and Isack Hadjar in F2. Having said that, the drink-based outfit is yet to announce lineup changes for sister team V-CARB as Daniel Ricciardo appears unlikely to receive an extension. Liam Lawson is on the lineup to replace Daniel in 2025.

Interestingly, Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson was James Vowles’s top choice for Logan Sargeant’s replacement at Williams. However, the drink-based outfit refused to loan him for the rest of the season. Senior advisor Helmut Marko told the media that the team wanted to persevere Lawson in case they needed him temporarily in the second half.

Notably, earlier, Helmut Marko reckoned that Red Bull wouldn’t block Liam Lawson’s way if an opportunity for him arose elsewhere. However, within days, the team changed its stance, thus blocking Lawson’s transition to Williams. However, Marko confirmed that Lawson would get a seat in 2025. “It looks like Lawson may board one of the four Red Bull-sponsored cars,” Marko said.
