General manager Brian Cashman did not hold back while hitting back at New York Yankees critics last week. In a media exchange, the GM said the team seemed good enough to him and called out fake narratives orchestrated by the ill-informed. He further used cuss words to add weight to his statements, which irked fans and analysts alike. Subsequently, Cashman was caught in a whirlwind of criticism and faced heavy backlash over his remarks. Amid growing resentment, the GM managed to garner some support from franchise owner Hal Steinbrenner. Steinbrenner interacted with the New York Post via email and issued a statement.

The New York Yankees owner first condemned the cuss words used by Brian Cashman, suggesting that the choice of words could have been better. But at the same time, Hal Steinbrenner admired the passion shown by the GM. He added that during the entire course of the 2023 season, a ridiculous amount of false narratives were being spread by the uninformed and uninvolved people, which led to intense frustration amongst the leadership group. They didn’t opt to disregard or call out such doubters to keep the team prone to unwanted controversies and distractions. Having said that, Steinbrenner refused to dive deep into the details of the false narratives. Earlier, the Yankee owner, during his virtual press address, defended skipper Aaron Boone by dismissing the narrative of Boone being believed to be making in-game decisions solely on analytical data.

He addressed Giancarlo Stanton’s health issues and reckoned that he does not expect the slugger to stay healthy next season, as getting injured frequently has become a part of his game nowadays.

Needless to say, Giancarlo Stanton’s team didn’t take it well, and his agent, Joel Wolfe, hit back at Brian Cashman. While speaking to The Athletic, Wolfe cautioned free agents considering signing with the Yankees to stay mentally tough as one cannot afford to lower their guard even during the off-season.
