The New York Yankees had a terrible season this year, to begin with. They had one of the worst seasons in their franchise history. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers finished the 2023 season with an 82-80 record. On top of that, they failed to make the postseason for the first time since 2016. It has been a tremendous shame for the 27-time champions. Clearly, the team depended heavily on their only superstar, Aaron Judge.

Hence, it was essential to bring another superstar into the mix. That’s the reason why the Yankees had eyes on Juan Soto, Cody Bellinger, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto from the very start of the offseason. Eventually, the Yankees Nation was very happy to hear the signing of Juan Soto. However, the failure to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto was a big blow to the hopes of the fans of the NY side.

Albeit the Yankees were the frontrunners to land Yamamoto, there were fans who started to look at the positives even if the franchise missed out on the Japanese ace. Now, the fear came true as the Los Angeles Dodgers landed Yamamoto for 12 years. There can be a lot of criticism on the NY side for failing to land the righty Japanese pitcher who they so badly needed. Anyway, some fans believe the offseason is already a winner for the Bronx Bombers as they got Juan Soto. Some fans feel that one year with the former San Diego Padres star is enough to accomplish the dream of winning a World Series.

Indeed, the Yankees needed some power in their offense. They got it with Juan Soto. His agent, Scott Boras, said any team would be lucky to have Soto as he is an offense in itself. However, to land Soto and other outfielders like Trent Grisham and Alex Verdugo this offseason, the Yankees had to sacrifice a lot of pitchers. Hence, their pitching condition is quickly worsens. Yamamoto could have been of great help. The Yankees planned to have him as their starting pitcher alongside Gerrit Cole. But they will have to look elsewhere now.

The fans of the Pinstripes had been adjusting with a decade-long frustration. It has been over a decade since the NY side won a World Series. The last time they have been to the World Series was in 2009. And that was the last time they won the “Big Dance.” However, the Yankees have been going downhill ever since. Even Brian Cashman and the rest of the management know that the fans are justifyingly unhappy with the team.

Hence, they pledged to make significant changes this offseason. It is like the Yankees organization had enough of disappointments. Once, the Evil Empire won title after title and always had multiple All-Star-level players. Last season, they had only their captain as their only superstar on the roster. Later, Aaron Judge missed over a month of game time due to a toe injury. That messed the whole season up for the Bronx Bombers.
