The Red Bull team, established in 2005, was initially skeptical of signing Christian Horner. The young Britin had experience working with the Formula 3000 team, which was insufficient to guide an elite F1 team. However, Helmut Marko recently provided insight into the process of signing Christian Horner, recounting his early experiences working with him. Initially, Red Bull had a junior team, placing Antonio Liuzzi into the Arden team, which Horner ran. Under Horner’s leadership, the team won the Formula 3000 championship. Marko observed Horner’s structured and effective working style during this time.

When Red Bull acquired Jaguar for a nominal amount, Marko recalled that the company’s boss, Dietrich Mateschitz, wanted to take a different approach with the team. Marko proposed Christian Horner for the role despite his lack of Formula 1 experience. Mateschitz was initially skeptical, which led to including Gunther Steiner, who had previous experience with Jaguar. However, who was more suitable for the position soon became evident, and Horner’s capabilities stood out.

Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have teamed up to address the persistent issues. During a discussion with Krone at Helmut, Marko was questioned about the internal instability and his connection with Horner.

The senior advisor responded decisively, indicating that both parties had declared a truce. He believed the squad was more likely to win the championship. Furthermore, he acknowledged that the opponents had become closer but remained optimistic about the following weekend. Notably, teams, including Ferrari and McLaren, are learning from RBR’s errors. Furthermore, they are uniting to form a strong competitor for the World Championship. As a result, if Red Bull was to maintain its dominance, it had to put personal grudges aside.
