The 2024 season has been a historic one for the Ferrari squad. Although the team managed to win a single race thus far, the iconic signing of Lewis Hamilton made it memorable. However, the Maranello squad started on the right track, as they were inching closer to the leaders, Red Bull. Meanwhile, the Ferrari’s SF24 hit an invisible blockade, putting it in reverse gear.
Therefore, teams like McLaren and Mercedes have outperformed the Italian constructors in the past few weeks. As a result, the technical crew has a huge task to regain momentum in the remainder of 2024. Subsequently, the team is reportedly eyeing to fast-track an upgrade from its 2025 F1 project.
Ferrari Launches Ambitious Revival Plan For Remainder Of 2024
A recent report by PlanetF1 revealed Ferrari’s ambitious plan for the ultimate ten races. The Prancing Horse has already completed the major work on the 2024 F1 project, 677. Meanwhile, the current SF24 car grapples with aerodynamic issues and lacks pace and control. Therefore, the Maranello squad has accelerated next year’s development plan to integrate it with the current project. The primary change will be aero-oriented, re-constructing the suspensions. However, reports also hint towards non-invasive modifications to the suspension system. All these tweaks were a part of the pull-rod front suspension plan. Introducing these upgrades to SF24 would give Lewis Hamilton a glimpse of his future.
Moreover, the Italian constructors ensured the configuration aligned with Hamilton’s driving style. Ferrari and Haas are the only teams using rear pull-rod suspension, while all the remaining teams use rear push-rod suspension. The 2025 plan consists of a pull-rod suspension on both ends of the car. The reason behind this change is that it is in harmony with Charles Leclerc and Hamilton’s driving styles. However, Carlos Sainz had a different driving style, forcing Ferrari not to use pull-rods on both ends. But now, from 2025 onwards, the squad can use a pull-rod suspension system, benefitting both its drivers.
Ferrari Reserve Driver To Take Seat In Dutch GP Practice
Ferrari will deploy a reserve driver in the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix practice. This is the first time since the 2023 Dutch GP that a Ferrari reserve driver will participate in a GP. Robert Shwartzman is all set to make his first F1 outing of the year.
He will replace Valtteri Bottas in the Stake F1 team at Zandvoort. Earlier, he appeared for the central Ferrari team on the same track. He was once considered a potential future superstar. He is currently racing AF Corse in the HyperCar class of the World Endurance Championship.
