After losing the series opener against Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, the New York Yankees produced an inspiring comeback with two back-to-back 15-run games. On Saturday, captain Aaron Judge broke out of his slump with a two hit game which consisted of a home runs and an RBI.

In the following series decider, former rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe came alive to extend Yankees lead. The game was extra special for the infielder as he was celebrating his 23rd Birthday. And interestingly, he chose to offer a return gift to his team with massive 400 foot home run.

Anthony Volpe, who entered his sophomore season this year with the New York Yankees, is showing massive signs of a breakout year in 2024. In 28 games so far, he’s hitting .282 with 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. In the most recent outstanding performance, Volpe helped the Yanks extend the lead against the Milwaukee Brewers with a massive three-run bomb. The heroics unfolded in the fifth innings of the series decider. Facing Tobias Myers’ 92-mph cutter, Volpe hammered a 400-foot three-run homer at an exit velocity of 105.9 MPH to right center field, thus extending Yankees lead to 4-0. Volpe, who was celebrating his 23rd Birthday on the game day, was smiling as he rounded the bases and celebrated the achievement with his teammates in the dugout.

Notably, Anthony Volpe‘s breakout performances on the plate have left analysts as well as fans surprised. MLB insider Mark Derosa reckoned that Volep had made some serious adjustments over the winter and was bearing the same results. It was revealed by the kid earlier that he indeed tweaked his mechanics and lowered his bat position to swing better. He also moved a little closer to the plate to gain a better understanding of dipping pitches. Overall, Anthony Volpe’s resurgence is a massive sign of encouragement for the New York Yankees, who invested heavy faith in the rookie last year as he was allowed to make a debut despite limited Triple-A experience. And Volpe, on his part, also repaid the faith with clinical clutch performances throughout his career unfaded so far.

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge is finally showing signs of a breakout after an early season slump as he homered back-to-back in two straight games against the Milwaukee Brewers. He launched a 441-foot home run against Tobias Myers’ four-seamer in the series finale to record his 26th career home run, including the postseason, that left the bat at 115 mph or greater.

Aaron Judge has been under the pump since the start of the 2024 season due to a lack of hits on the plate. His average fell below .200, which is a concern for many fans as Judge is coming off a gruesome toe injury. However, Judge downplayed his struggles, saying it’s just a minor slump and that all he needs is one good series to come out of it. And the past Brewers series could be the breakthrough Judge was looking for.
