A bounce back in the 2024 season is a must for the New York Yankees. They have to change the narrative that tarnished the franchise’s image in 2023. An abysmal 82-80 record is not something that generally gets associated with a storied franchise like the Bronx Bombers. Thus, to produce a turnaround in 2024, the Yanks need better and stronger manpower.
Of course, seeking outside reinforcements would be the key. However, ensuring the health of in-house players is equally important. A lot of key players spent a ridiculous amount of time on IL in 2023, which contributed heavily to the Bombers’ lost campaign. While Aaron Judge is expected to recover from a toe injury, Anthony Rizzo’s participation is still under scanner.
Anthony Rizzo Doing “Great” In Concussion Recovery, Reveals Agent!
New York Yankees’ reliable first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, had a flyer start to the 2023 season. He finished the first half as the team’s top offensive contributor. However, a collision with Padres Fernando Tatis Jr. changed the entire course of the season for Rizzo. Despite clearing concussion tests, the baseman continued to struggle on the plate. His demeanor was never the same, which raised alarm bells. Eventually, Rizzo reached out to the franchise with complaints of memory loss episodes. The tests conducted post that confirmed the diagnosis of post-concussion syndrome in Rizzo. Subsequently, the team management shut down the baseman for the season to avert the risk of aggravation. Since then, the club has been on radio silence on his health status.
Meanwhile, as the crucial period of off-season commences next month, Anthony Rizzo’s agent, Ryan Gleichowski, dropped a major health update on the baseman. He said Rizzo is doing great so far in his road to recovery. However, Ryan refused to elaborate on the details of his return timeline. Having said that, the recent update is a positive sign for the New York Yankees, keeping the 2024 season in mind. Anthony Rizzo is a key piece of the Yanks lineup puzzle. He brings the necessary balance to the hitting lineup as a left-handed hitter. Not only that, the veteran has been responsible for pulling the team out of the dark during crucial stretches. Thus, his presence in the lineup will massively boost the team’s 2024 season campaign.
Juan Soto’s Not Ready To Offer Long-Term Services To Yankees!
With only Anthony Rizzo serving as a left-handed hitter, the New York Yankees need more lefties to balance the hitting lineup. The front office took a step in that direction by expressing interest in trading Juan Soto from San Deigo Padres. The work around the market is that the Padres could trade Soto to put an end to financial woes.
However, the Yankees could be put off by the outfielder’s new demand. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic claims that Juan Soto would not be open to a contract extension with the franchise that trades for him this off-season. He says Soto’s agent, Scott Boras, would encourage him to explore the free agency market to fetch higher value. “He’s not going to sign, in my opinion,” Rosenthal said.
