The biggest mystery of the 2024 season has been solved. After a long string of rumors, Adrian Newey is now part of Aston Martin. The team officially announced at an event in Aston Martin’s factory. After next year’s first quarter, the Aero Wizard will join the Silverstone squad upon ending his gardening leave with Red Bull. The Aston Martin CEO, Lawrence Stroll, also announced that Newey will assume the role of Technical Managing Partner and will hold a stake in the company.

After a long wait, the British engineer will leave Red Bull for a new outfit. Newey was dissatisfied with RBR management. The situation has been troubling him since the internal turmoil erupted at the Milton Keynes-based outfit. Consequently, the veteran car designer decided to draw a curtain on his Red Bull stint. Now, he will earn a whopping amount with the new Aston Martin contract.

Adrian Newey To Earn An ASTONishing $4,500 Per Hour With Martin

The F1’s most celebrated car designer, Adrian Newey, will now work with Aston Martin. The Briton resigned from RBR’s Chief Technical Officer role after a long time with the management. He is working on a Red Bull hybrid supercar and will join the Silverstone in the second quarter of 2025. Lawrence Stroll was adamant about signing Newey in an attempt to revive the Green squad. Stroll claimed Newey to be the biggest piece in solving Aston Martin’s technical puzzle. Further, he believes the veteran engineer will have a trickle-down effect on the entire squad.

Moreover, Newey is set to earn an annual salary of £20 million ($26.19 million), which could go up to £30 million ($39.28 million) with bonuses. According to ESPN, Newey will make £3,434 ($4,500) every hour through this long-term deal. As fans and experts debate whether he merits such a substantial salary, Newey stands out as one of the most successful car designers in F1 history. The British technical expert has won almost 25 world titles with different teams. He was responsible for propelling Red Bull into a dominant sphere twice. Moreover, Newey is capable of turning things around for the Silverstone squad. Especially with an imminent new regulation, the 65-year-old engineer could make a huge difference.

When asked about his move, Newey expressed his excitement about joining a completely new setup. He was further impressed by Lawrence Stroll’s passion and commitment, as the Aston Martin CEO is determined to create a world-class team. Moreover, Newey praised Stroll as one of the few team owners actively engaging in the sport’s endeavors. The British engineer remains positive as partners like Honda and Aramco are key to further team development.

How Did A Visit To Silverstone’s Factory Shape Newey’s Decision?

One of the main episodes of this entire ‘Newey showdown’ was his visit to the Silverstone factory. Newey took a private tour of Aston Martin’s latest facilities in late June. Until then, Ferrari was pursuing the dream of signing Newey, while Mercedes was also on the hunt.

The advanced technology and Stroll’s ambitious plan influenced the Briton to sign a deal with Aston Martin. Moreover, the wind tunnel and the new factory design made key contributions to lure in a world-class car designer.
