Aaron Judge led the New York Yankees to playoffs and AL-East division in literal sense this year. His blockbuster offensive season was a benchmark for not only his team but also for the entire league. Judge finished the year with surreal metrics, placing him in front of the MVP standings.

That being said, the AL-MVP decision will take his postseason performance into consideration as well. Hence, Aaron Judge has to continue leading from the front for the next four weeks to ensure that not only team but also individual success. Meanwhile, with the end of the regular season, Judge has been crowned with a special accolade by Baseball America magazine.

The New York Yankees have had a successful year so far, especially after missing the postseason in 2023. A major factor in their return to playoff contention has been team captain and star slugger Aaron Judge. While Judge didn’t match his 62 home runs from two years ago, he managed to be even better offensively in 2024. Homers are impressive, but they don’t define a complete offensive player. This season, Judge was more well-rounded while still being MLB’s top power threat, earning him several accolades. One notable honor was being named the 2024 Player of the Year by Baseball America. “He led MLB hitters in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, home runs, RBIs, walks, wRC+, and fWAR,” the publication posted.

Aaron Judge’s achievement is particularly impressive given that he outperformed Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani, who posted the first 50-50 season in MLB history. Despite Ohtani’s milestone, Judge finished with 58 home runs, a .322 batting average, and 144 RBIs. He also led the league in wRC+ and fWAR, cementing his place as MLB’s top hitter. Moreover, with the postseason still left on the cards, the Yankees captain can better his record for the overall MLB season. Having said that, regardless of what the mighty Aaron Judge might or might not achieve, his regular season numbers are enough to place him as the frontrunner to win his second AL MVP award. His immediate competition is Bobby Witt Jr from Kansas City Royals and his own Yankee teammate Juan Soto, who also registered a career-best season in his first year with the Yankees.

The New York Yankees secured the AL-East title and finished as the top team in the AL, with captain Aaron Judge leading the charge once again. Judge delivered a remarkable offensive season, hitting 58 home runs, driving in 144 RBIs, and collecting 180 hits. His Weighted Runs Created Plus (wRC+) of 218 placed him among the all-time greats.

That being said, a fan named Addison on social media pointed out that Aaron Judge’s 2024 campaign ranks as the seventh-best offensive season in MLB history. What sets Aaron Judge apart is that he’s the only right-handed hitter in the top ten, suggesting he may have had the greatest season by a right-handed batter ever.
