Carlos Rodon Scheduled To Get Injected For “Chronic” Back Snag, Return Put On Hold Indefinitely

The New York Yankees termed their off-season successful after signing San Francisco Giants’ pitcher Carlos Rodon in free agency. Rodon, despite having troubling injury history, remained a prized possession for the Bombers. However, as many baseball pundits and analysts predicted, the move turned out to be the Yankees’ worst nightmare of the 2023 MLB season.

Carlos Rodon stepped on the mound just once, donning the pinstripe at spring training. Shortly after, the pitcher went into IL due to a forearm strain, which delayed his Yankee debut. There began a series of unfortunate events. Rodon kept on dealing with multiple setbacks despite making healthy progress. Meanwhile, the recent update has further put his future participation in the season in question.

The New York Yankees’ most prized possession, Carlos Rodon, has been the disappointment of the season. His long withstanding troubling history of injuries continues to bite him back. It all started in March when Rodon suffered from a forearm strain on his throwing arm and went on a 15-day IL. However, the due date never really came in as he kept dealing with multiple setbacks. A few weeks ago, the pitcher complained of back pain and stopped throwing momentarily. While the club termed the issue minor, it has now become the sole reason for his delay.

Carlos Rodon spoke to the media from the Yankees rehab center in Tampa, Florida. The pitcher shared updates on his injury and said he is scheduled to take a cortisone shot next week to treat his back which has now become a chronic issue. On top of that, when asked about a return timeline, Rodon simply refused to put a date to it. He said his goal now is to start throwing as soon as he can after taking the injection. Furthermore, the pitcher expressed his frustration over his current state. He said he wants to throw it every day but also understands that the stakes are too high. Hence, the southpaw does not want to make any stupid move that could worsen the present situation.

Fans Puzzled As Rodon Refuses To Set A Return Timeline

Carlos Rodon left the Yankees fans baffled with a startling injury update. The pitcher finally broke the silence on his prolonged injury and shared a further course of action for the same. However, the pitcher looked confused when asked to suggest a return timeline. Rodon said he is not in a position to do that at the moment. He does not know what the foreeable future holds for him. This statement has left the Yankee fans puzzled. While some trolled him for being unable to recover within the set time frame, a few targeted the Yankees medical and conditioning team for their incompetence in handling Rodon’s back issue.

Regardless, the fans have to come to terms with the reality. Carlos Rodon is not coming back to the lineup any time soon. He could most likely miss another month with this new back injury. In the meantime, the Yankees continue to survive at the mercy of the bullpen depth. Overall, the situation looks bad for the club as they remain stranded alone at the bottom of the AL-East table.
