After a forearm injury, Rodon suffered from chronic back pain, which brought him back to square one. Regardless, after months of rehab and training, Rodon found his way back to the mound. He hit numerous bullpen sessions and also a couple of live sessions. Accordingly, the Yankees scheduled his last hurdle, a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset Patriots.

The Yankees wanted Carlos Rodon to play three games during his rehab assignment to regain match-level fitness and rhythm. They wanted him to increase his pitch count while maintaining a steady velocity throughout. The pitcher’s recent outing took place on Sunday, wherein he pitched four scoreless innings while striking out four batters. After the game, Rodon said he felt a lot more normal after the latest outing. He admitted to feeling ready for the majors and wanting to talk to the Yankees about scheduling a debut game as soon as possible. As Rodon prepares for his return, it is essential for him to strike a balance between his eagerness to contribute and the need for caution. New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon, who is currently under a rehab assignment, will play one more game in Double-A before heading back to the clubhouse for a debut. His last two outings have been impressive so far. The pitcher has not reported any discomfort or setback. Not only that, but the left-hander also elevated his pitch counts enough for a major league start. If all things go well, Rodon could look at a return around next week.

This week, the Yankees will be on a road trip to the West. When they come back next week, the team is scheduled to face East rivals, Baltimore Orioles. Hence, Carlos Rodon’s debut could take place on July 5 against the Orioles at the Yankee’s home stadium in the Bronx.
