In a thrilling chapter of the storied New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox rivalry, captain Aaron Judge emerged as the decisive factor, propelling the Bronx Bombers to a dramatic series win. Judge, particularly, had an eventful series as he snapped out of a concerning 16-game homer run drought in style. Judge smoked a grand slam in game 2 to power his team to a 5-4 victory, thus gaining a 2-0 lead in the series. Later on Saturday, Judge was intentionally hit by a pitch as the Red Sox retaliated over Gerrit Cole hitting Rafael Devers in the first innings. All these tensions fuelled the Yankee captain to seek revenge on Sunday during the series finale.

Aaron Judge went deep to score a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, thus propelling the New York Yankees to a 5-2 victory. After hitting the homer, Judge carried his bat all the way to the first base, which was an unusual celebration. In the post-game interview, the captain explained that hitting against the Red Sox was a big moment because of the infamous rivalry between the two teams. Hence, he wanted to enjoy his moment to the fullest. “I thought I did that every time, no? (He said this with a smirk) It’s a big homer,” Judge said. Needless to say, the intensity of the series and Judge’s standout plays further ignited the already fierce competition between the two teams. Moreover, the slugger’s ability to rise to the occasion in ‘big game’ scenarios reinforced his reputation as one of the game’s premier players.

Irked by Gerrit Cole hitting Rafael Devers with a pitch in the first innings, Red Sox starter Brayan Bello sought revenge by intentionally hitting Yankees captain Aaron Judge with a pitch. Manager Alex Cora admitted the same in the post-game interview that sparked controversy. However, Judge didn’t mind Bello’s game plan and deemed the tensions a part of baseball.

“I know they’re upset. I think they’re just protecting their players. The biggest thing is just don’t miss,” Aaron Judge said in the post-game interview while seemingly taking a soft dig. The entire four-game series between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox was filled with such fiery moments that fuelled the dying century-old rivalry between the two AL-East rivals.
