LeBron James is a veteran and a star of the Lakers, whereas Austin Reaves is the present and the possible future. Reaves joined the Lakers back in 2021. But he has caught the clear attention of the fans this season with some great performances. Ever since James has been out, Reaves came as a major boost to the lineup.

Albeit, without LeBron James, the current Lakers stars are D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Davis, who are taking the team forward and are doing pretty well. But they know that they have got good support in the form of Austin Reaves. Albeit, the young gun has proved against the Magic that he can be much more than just a support. And in a recent conversation, Reaves made a shocking revelation about the King, LeBron James.

When this rising star of the Lakers came on Evan Turner’s podcast, Point Forward, he talked about the rookie duties he had to perform after joining the team last season. Sometimes it is hard to remember that Austin Reaves is just playing in his second NBA season. He was a rookie last year. Generally, these rookies or newcomers in any team have to go through a lot as their seniors always make them pay their dues in various ways.

But Austin Reaves mentioned that he did not have to endure such a tough time. In his rookie year, Rajon Rondo gave him a few tasks to do. When it came to what LeBron James made him do, Reaves mentioned that he is pretty low-maintenance. But James did give Reaves a couple of dollars to buy an Xbox controller.

That’s a pretty good deal. It could have been worse for any rookie, but James did not take much advantage of the rising star of the team. Now it is just a matter of time before the veteran gets on the court with the young blood. But the question remains the same, when? The latest information on the King’s recovery says that LeBron has started on-court activities. He is recovering well and will get in the lineup in no time. Albeit, it is still not declared when he is going to return.

But the good news for the Lakers fans is that the team is doing well and is gradually rising up. Before the match against the Thunder last night, the Lakers were the 10th seed. Since they won the crucial game, they are now the 8th seed. After beating the visitors, the Lakers are 37-37. Only eight more games to go, and the Lakers need to hold on to the momentum. Anthony Davis has been the star of the match yet again, with good support from Austin Reaves.

The team is looking better than ever. The team has got the balance that was missing earlier when the edition started. Now all they need to take care of is no more injuries and the return of LeBron James. The team is the eighth seed but will look to get into the top six to make the playoffs without participating in the play-in.
