Some of the choices that the Yankees made in order to make their rosters the best are really worth appreciating. Just look at Anthony Volpe; how stunningly he is skilling his base runs. However, he is yet to throw the best shots, as the first series of the season weekend was just about two hits.

Now the Yankees shortstop has promoted his skills to third base. In the seventh innings of the game against the Giants On Sunday, the score remained 6-0. Is it not giving nostalgia? A decade ago, Billy Hamilton from Red Sox did the same thing, and he is remembered today and will be forever. Volpe indeed became the top prospect of the Yankees in the 2023 MLB season. But this is not a surprise for his manager, Aaron Boone.

After the spectacular match last day, Boone merged to reveal that he is “not surprised at all.” The Yankees manager can see an elite baserunner in Anthony. “He is not a burner; Volpe has got a good speed,” he said. The most special thing about the 21 years old Yankees player is that he is a baserunner and he does his “homework” well. He remains under control, and then when he is supposed to run, he does it well.

In addition, Aaron, the manager, claimed that his shortstop is the real deal, specifically on the base paths. And this has been the play-a factor for the team these first few weeks. The season opener in San Fransisco was a good day for the Yankees; perhaps one of the reasons for that was Anthony Volpe. Saturday was the day when he showed the second base skills, and the next day, he made things too much easier for the third base running.

This Is How Anthony Volpe Is An Advantage To The Yankees.

It has been just three games for Volpe, and he is posting .222 with two runs, walks, and strikeouts. His .364 on-base percentage is just justifying why Boone is not surprised. The 21 years old is now a master of hopping lead and bouncing forward. He does it all at the perfect time. And the one disadvantage everyone got this season with the new regulations of pickoffs is also well adopted by Anthony Volpe. So, it is now an advantage for the Yankees.

The manager also thinks that the piece of concentration of the pitchers is getting attained by the shortstop. Aaron Boone explained, “the opposing team, which sometimes does similar things that nets some of Yankees players a mistake pitch is because of their focus that needs to be in some other area.

Nevertheless, Anthony Volpe being a lot humble wants to give the credit for such historical achievement to the coaching staff. “the staff that put together the reports and stealing bags,” he said. He wants to make it a low-risk thing because now the modern games have somehow taken the stealing bags away. For fans, there is a very encouraging statement given by Volpe. He says, “I always wanted to get third. And see, I ended up making it there.” Remember, every run matters; keep trying and pushing the envelope, and extend the lead! as suggested by Anthony Volpe.
