The New York Yankees are spending this offseason regrouping their squad for the 2023 campaign. Anthony Rizzo and Aaron Judge, two important Yankees players who headed into free agency, were on the top priority list for the team. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, it was confirmed that the Yankees had struck a deal with Rizzo to get him back for two years. Now, Rizzo hopes that Aaron Judge also joins him on the Yankee\’s roaster.
Anthony Rizzo Wants Aaron Judge Back With The Yankees!
On Tuesday, the Yankees re-signed the first baseman Anthony Rizzo to a two-year agreement with a third-year option. Rizzo had reportedly rejected New York\’s qualifying offer only minutes before the agreement was revealed. Rizzo wants his teammate to return for the 2023 season as well after his contract has been completed. The two have become great friends both on and off the field during their time in the Bronx. Therefore, he wants to see his buddy and friend receive the treatment that he deserves.
Rizzo expressed his desire that Aaron Judge remains just for the benefit of the contest. He also believes Aaron has contributed significantly to the success of the franchise. Therefore, he deserves what he has earned. In that area, Rizzo has some expertise. The first baseman for the Chicago Cubs was a club mainstay, albeit his circumstances were different from Judge\’s. He contributed to the Cubs\’ 2016 World Series victory, ending a 108-year championship drought.
The Chicago Cubs were where Rizzo played baseball for most of his career. Rizzo\’s decision to go to New York wasn\’t an easy one. He cherished his time with the Cubs. However, the two parties couldn\’t agree on anything when it came to discussing contract renewals. He then accepted the offer from the New York Yankees. It appears that Rizzo wants Aaron Judge to avoid going through what he did. To ensure that Judge ends his career in New York, he wants the club to provide him with everything he requests.
Without question, Judge is the best available free agent. Any other player in the league did not achieve a regular season total of more than 60 home runs. His attacking skills quickly improve any club. The front offices of every team are trying to figure out how to get him. Rizzo said he was taken aback by how swiftly a deal came together
Even if he could not reach a deal with the Yankees, he had attracted enough interest from teams since last week when he exercised his contract\’s opt-out clause. One of the teams interested in Rizzo\’s left-handed skills was the Astros. He gave each team that expressed interest careful thought. But rather than letting him go, the Yankees made sure Rizzo return in Pinstripe Blues.
