Anthony Davis joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019 and had an immediate effect on the team. He did not take much time to become an integral part of the team. Evidently, AD was instrumental in the Lakers winning their 17th championship. It was the duo of James-Davis that brought the title home after a decade. In fact, LeBron James has been partly responsible for bringing AD to the Lakers.
After a span of four years in LA, the friendship between LeBron James and Anthony Davis has only become more robust. At several moments, AD himself has mentioned that their chemistry is arguably the best in NBA currently. Looks like it is safe to say that as long as James stays in LA, AD will too. And once again, the Brow has reckoned the same notion.
Anthony Davis Loves Los Angeles Lakers Like Home
Anthony Davis recently opened up about how he and his family love living in Los Angeles. He is really proud of the fact that he plays for the Lakers, a franchise with such a rich history. Davis is also aware of the fact that the Lakers and the Celtics are tied with 17 titles each. He says that when someone is already part of a championship-winning side, then the one looks for more titles. Undoubtedly, he is excited about the fact that he can be part of a team that can become the first team to win 18 championships. Davis also cleared the fact that he really wants to win another championship wearing the purple and gold uniform before the summer of 2025 arrives.
“To be a part of the legacy already of winning a championship, you want to win more. We’re tied with Boston at 17, it’s like, I want to be part of the one that makes it 18 and this franchise No. 1,” said Anthony Davis.
AD’s contract with the Lakers ends in 2025. They will perhaps re-sign Davis, and likewise, he does not want to leave it to chance. The whole season Anthony Davis had been in incredible form until the right foot stress injury ruined it all. Before he sustained that injury last December, Davis was averaging 30.0 points per game. Even when he returned after missing more than twenty games, AD looked in lethal touch. After James was gone sustaining a tendon injury on his right foot in late February, the fans lost hopes of winning a title this season. But Anthony Davis ignited their hopes again with MVP-level performances in consecutive games.
Can AD And The Lakers Do The Unthinkable?
With D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves, AD managed to take the Lakers to the top ten and closer to the playoff chances as well. Every remaining game of the regular season is a must-win for the Lakers to secure their playoff chances. On his return, LeBron James would have loved to win against the Bulls, but it was not meant to be. LeBron James scored a mere 19 points, whereas Anthony Davis scored only 15.
In the next game, the Lakers will face the Bulls again. The Lakers would look for an act of sweet revenge against the Bulls and the former Lakers man, Patrick Beverley. The fans will hope for the duo of Davis-James to join the party like they mean business. From here on, there are only seven games remaining for the LA franchise. They would not want to make any more mistakes and make full use of them.
