Alex Rodriguez Takes A Shy Dig At The Yankees While Welcoming Carlos Correa Back To The Minnesota Twins

Alex Rodriguez- Carlos Correa

Shortstop Carlos Correa is back with the Minnesota Twins after repeated failed attempts for a trade. Carlos signed with Minnesota in 2022 in a three-year contract. However, he later decided to opt out and entered the free-agent market this season. As a result, the 28-year-old struck a massive $350 million deal with the San Francisco Giants. However, the Giants backed out hours before the official announcement citing physical reasons. The club felt that Carlos’s ankle injury, sustained in 2014, would cause problems in the future.

Later, New York Mets tried to reach out to Carlos Correa. Apparently, the Mets, too, closed a $315 million deal with the shortstop. However, the Mets, too, dropped out, citing the same physical reasons. Eventually, Correa had to make peace with the Twins, and he re-signed with the club for $200 million. Meanwhile, an MLB insider reported that Carlos also made a failed attempt to approach the New York Yankees for a possible trade. Now, a former Yankee himself, Alex Rodriguez, had issued a cheeky statement on the whole matter.

Alex Rodriguez Welcomes Carlos Correa Back to The Twins

Carlos Correa

Carlos Correa idolizes Alex Rodriguez. As a result, the Yankees fans were always made to believe that Carlos, too, would follow Alex’s path and join the New York Yankees in the future. However, that did not certainly happen this season. Nevertheless, Rodriguez did not hold back and posted a cheeky tweet welcoming the shortstop back into the Minnesota Twins. He welcomed Carlos home and asked him to grab a shovel.

However, Jon Heyman, an MLB insider, revealed that Carlos Correa did approach the Yankees. But, his ankle looked like a real issue for all the clubs in MLB. Moreover, Brian Cashman has always stood by the fact that the Yankee is Aaron Judge’s team. So, the entire roster will be set up, keeping him in the center. And as per that strategy, Carlos was not a fit for 2023. Thus, the Bombers did not respond to the shortstop.

Rodriguez Calls Correa “LeBron James of Baseball”

The love between Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Correa is mutual. As much as Carlos idolizes Alex, the latter, too, is a massive Carlos fan. While appearing in a post-match show at Fox Sports, Alex referred to Carlos as the “LeBron James of Baseball”. Alex further added that the 6’4 shortstop could be the best in any sport. He can be a safety in NFL and a guard in NBA. To Alex, Carlos is the fastest and strongest athlete.

Carlos Correa is a rare talent. After having a successful debut at the Houston Astros, he won the rookie of the year award. Moreover, in 2017, he featured in the World Baseball Classic, won an MLB all-star, and also won the world series title with the Astros. Furthermore, Carlos clinched the Golden glove award in 2021. However, after moving to Twins, his form took a hit. Hence, he looked for a way out. But fate decided otherwise.
