Sir Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen had an epic showdown back in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that people still talk about today. Since then, they have become great rivals and contenders for the F1 title. But there’s only one winner, and that is Max Verstappen at present. The Dutchman has won back-to-back three world championships. But it all started from 2021. Since then, Max has won 42 races so far. There are two more races remaining in the 2023 season.
But the 2021 season finale was very controversial because of the mistakes of the race director back then, Michael Masi. Later, F1 and FIA fired him for all the controversies created in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Nevertheless, Masi’s mistakes cost Lewis Hamilton a world championship, which could have been his last. It is still quite prominent in the minds of the F1 fans. Now, what if Hamilton ends his career with no more than seven titles? Shouldn’t he look back at the 2021 season with regrets?
Why Felipe Massa’s Case Might Give Idea To Lewis Hamilton To Do Something Similar On The 2021 Season Finale?
Recently, Timo Glock told PlanetF1 that Lewis Hamilton might make a court case on the 2021 season like Felipe Massa did in the 2008 season. Moreover, Glock said that he is not 100% sure what Massa is doing is the right thing to do. But Glock feels Massa must have evidence to support his claim, saying, “He knows the facts (the details of it).” However, Timo Glock said if the former Brazilian driver wins the case, then it might trigger Lewis Hamilton to go against Max Verstappen’s 2021 victory.

Glock mentioned another court face may not be the right side for the F1 Motorsport. He’s really not sure about it. But he just wanted to express how surprised he was to see Massa going to court to plead against how he missed the 2008 season’s title. Lewis Hamilton won the title back in 2008 with a one-point margin. Anyhow, Felipe Massa mentioned that he has nothing against Hamilton. In fact, he believes Hamilton is one of the finest racers of all time. Moreover, Massa appreciates the seven-time champion fighting for justice in and outside F1.
Felipe Massa Has Nothing Against Hamilton But The Manipulated Race In 2008
In an interview with PlanetF1, the former Brazilian driver mentioned he is fighting against the result of a manipulated race. Moreover, Massa said he is not doing anything against Lewis Hamilton. But he believes one time Hamilton will need to speak about the situation. However, back in 2021, Max was not as dominant as Mercedes and Hamilton was still ruling the show prior to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. At the end of the 2021 season, Mercedes won the constructor title.

But Lewis Hamilton missed the chance of winning his coveted eighth title by a whisker. Eventually, Max Verstappen won 10 races that season, and Hamilton ended with eight wins. Moreover, the Dutchman ended with 395.5 points in 2021, whereas Hamilton secured 387.5 points. That’s how crucial the final race of the 2021 season was for deciding the winner of the Driver’s World Championship.
