The Red Bull team, among the top F1 teams, was developed by Adrian Newey’s excellence. The most celebrated car designer in Formula One helped the team transition from being a mediocre team to being the elite. However, the internal conflict and negligence forced him to part ways with RBR. While it was a massive loss for the Milton Keynes-based outfit, other teams saw an opportunity.
Thus, every F1 team indulged in a fierce battle to sign the aero wizard. While there’s no official confirmation, reports suggest only three teams are in the hunt. However, for the first time in the past few months, Adrian Newey opened up about his current role at Red Bull and future endeavors.
Adrian Newey Will See Through The Completion Of RB17
Adrian Newey, the British aero genius, will be a free agent after his RBR tenure ends in 2025. Although he is no longer associated with Red Bull’s F1 project, the veteran car designer manages the RB17 development, a hypercar made by Red Bull. However, once his work ends, the Briton would move ahead and possibly choose a new team. Thus, there are a few potential options for the experienced engineer. Teams like Ferrari, Aston Martin, and McLaren are the frontrunners in cashing in on Newey. Ferrari wants the genius of Newey to combine with Lewis Hamilton, which could end their World Title drought. On the other hand, some reports suggested that Adrian Newey recently visited Aston Martin’s factory, fueling a potential tie-up. McLaren is not much behind, as the team seeks an experienced aero expert.
However, during an interaction, Adrian Newey told the Formula One website that his solemn focus was on the development of RB17. Regarding his departure from Red Bull Racing, he mentioned that when they began designing the car in 2021, he never imagined he wouldn’t be with the team anymore. Moreover, despite his absence from the F1 project, Newey confirmed he will continue to be a part of RB17’s progression. Furthermore, the Briton expressed the importance of the RB17 project, as he has spent all his days and weekends working on the car.
Thus, he is eager to finish the project, as every RBR shareholder has been supportive throughout this journey. Subsequently, he explained the remaining process of the car as the crew was working on its detailing along with some aerodynamic aspects. At the same time, Newey affirmed that the team had prepared everything from the servicing plan to the servicing cost. In the end, Adrian Newey concluded by saying he might go on a vacation after working non-stop for the past few months.
