New York Yankees suffered a horrific defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Twins, who wreaked havoc by scoring as many as nine runs in the first inning of the game.

A bad day at the office would be an understatement to describe the New York Yankees’ brutal loss against the Minnesota Twins. The Twins came in with all guns blazing and sealed the game in the first inning itself. But what went wrong for the Bombers, who are coming off a thumping series win against the Cleveland Guardians and the Baltimore Orioles?

For starters, the starter of the game, Jhony Brito recorded his worst career figures by giving away seven runs in just 0.2 innings pitched. It reached a point where the Yankees had to pull him out and sent in Colten Brewer for some damage control. However, Brewer, too, failed to hold off the runs and gave away three more runs. Not only that, the dry spell from the batter’s end, especially Aaron Judge, led to the humiliating 2-11 loss.

Aaron Judge Lost His Record On Base Streak, Replaced In Eight Inning

After giving away nine runs in the first inning, the New York Yankees knew the game had slipped away, and a comeback was next to impossible. However, the team did try and put in their best efforts. But, it was clearly not their day, as nothing went in the right direction. On top of that, Aaron Judge, the Yankees captain, failed to record a single hit, which marked an unfortunate end of the 45-game-long record on-base streak. The streak was the longest in the majors in a few years, but it came to a somewhat ironic end.

After a horrific show, Aaron Judge could not bear it and was subbed in the eighth innings, with Aaron Hicks replacing him at the center field. Regardless, Judge’s on-base streak had been a remarkable achievement, and it was a testament to his consistency and skill as a hitter. Despite the setback against the Twins, Judge still has four home runs to his name. For what it’s worth, Judge was not even aware of any such record in the first place. When asked about his base streak in an interview, the slugger said it was the first time he was hearing of it. Hence, the cap is least bothered and focused on the ultimate goal of winning.

New York Yankees won two series on the recent road trip. It marked the first away series win for Aaron Judge as the captain of the organization. It was special for Judge, who took to Instagram to celebrate the feat. He uploaded a montage video on social media, which included all the special moments of the road trip. He captioned it, saying, “Great series in Cleveland! Excited to get back home!”

With that, the Yankees moved back home to New York for the series against the Minnesota Twins. However, the start has been horrific, with a 2-11 loss in the first game. Regardless, the Bombers have four consecutive series so far in the season and can very well come back in the next couple of games.
