Aaron Judge is more than a player for the New York Yankees. He is the club’s pillar of strength, their lead slugger, and also a leader in the clubhouse. Since bursting into the scene in 2016, Judge has grown to become one of the best players in the sport. He scripted his legacy in 2022 by surpassing the all-time league record of hitting most home runs in a single season.

However, this year, Aaron Judge has faced numerous challenges. Multiple injuries restricted his game time to almost half. Still, the captain is doing what he does best, and that too with an injured toe. The home run-hitting spree continued against the Houston Astors on Friday. But this time, the long hit helped the captain achieve a rare feat.

New York Yankees are scheduled to face arch-rivals Houston Astors in a three-game series this weekend. The first game of the series took place on Friday, where the visitors, the Yanks, heavily dominated. Jasson Dominguez, the 20-year-old debutant, set the scoreboard ticking with a home run in his very first major league at bat. Further, DJ LeMahieu and Giancarlo Stanton joined the party as they, too, recorded long hits, and the Yanks were in a five-run lead in no time. Meanwhile, Aaron Judge did not want to feel left out, so he decided to join the scoring list. In the top of the fifth inning, Judge slammed a solo home run into the left field off Justin Verlander. The hit traveled 426 ft at 110.5 mph exit velocity.

The home run, along with being Aaron Judge’s 30th long hit of the season, also happened to be the captain’s career 250th homer. Moreover, Judge unlocked a new achievement with the hit as he became the fastest player in major league history to reach 250 home runs. The Yankees captain unlocked the magical number in his 810th game, whereas the last person holding the record, Ryan Howard of Philadelphia, took 855 appearances for the same feat. Aaron Judge astonished the MLB world yet again with his heroics. This season, despite missing over two months due to a toe injury, the slugger is placed fourth on the AL homer run charts. Moreover, Judge is also the Yankee’s lead offensive contributor. While the Yanks continue to fall, their captain seems to be thriving under pressure.
