Slugger Aaron Judge has been the heart and soul of the Yankees\’ campaign in the 2022 season. He has hit a record-breaking 62 home runs in one season. However, it is no secret that Judge\’s contract with the New York-based franchise is ending this year. And the baseman has decided not to take the extension offered by the Yankees. He wants to bet on himself by stepping into the free agency.
But since then, there have been a lot of speculations about Judge\’s future. And now, Aaron has reportedly unfollowed the Yankees on social media, leading many to believe that he may be looking to part ways with the Yankees. But what\’s the truth of it? Keep reading to find out.
Aaron Judge Unfollowed Yankees On Social Media?
Before the season began, general manager Brian Cashman extended a seven-year, $213.5 million contract to Judge. He declined that offer, putting his money on himself in the belief that he would be compensated more by New York or another potential suitor during the free agency period. Aaron Judge is officially a free agent after the New York Yankees were knocked out of the playoffs. The 30-year-old slugger will have competition, despite the Yankees\’ best efforts to keep him on staff.
Elsewhere, a Twitter user noticed that Judge wasn\’t following the Yankees on Instagram. This lead to assumptions the star outfielder had removed any ties to his old organization from his social media. On Thursday night, a number of media sources reported that Aaron Judge had stopped following people on Twitter and Instagram.
Many Yankees supporters were sent into a frenzy as a result of these rumors. They even interpreted it as an indication that Judge may have decided to say goodbye to the Yankees. However, it turns out that all this fuzz was about absolutely nothing at all. Aaron Judge never followed the Yankees\’ social media handles. Therefore, the reports of him unfollowing them are sheer nonsense.
In 2022 Judge, with a .311 batting average, 62 home runs, and 131 RBIs, set an American League record. He had the best OPS in all of baseball (1.111), and his fWAR was 11.4. Now, he will cost a lot of money to any team looking to hire him. Early in the year, New York Yankees made Judge a number of meager proposals, and afterward, executives openly discussed them. The baseman declined these offers, though, preferring to become a free agent in order to earn more money.
At this point, there is not much clarity about Judge\’s future in MLB. However, eagle-eyed fans picked several hints that he may continue donning Pinstripes Blue in the seasons to come. Previously, he was seen wearing a hoodie saying \”New York or Nowhere.\”
