In 2023, the New York Yankees had one of their worst seasons in decades. Moreover, the fans have not been too impressed with Aaron Boone, the manager. Hence, the higher-ups of the Bronx Bombers will convene for an autopsy of the current season on Wednesday in Tampa. Moreover, they will discuss about the changes they must make before the next season.

Surprisingly enough, as per SNY’s Andy Martino, Aaron Boone will join these discussions as things stand, the Yankees are not planning to fire him yet. In fact, as per contract, Aaron Boone has one more year with the Yankees. The only way things can go south at present for Boone is if the Tampa meetings go sideways and the higher-ups all of a sudden fire him. That is a highly unlikely scenario.

Moreover, certain things have happened in the last few weeks that favored Aaron Boone. Most importantly, the Yankees 16th Captain, Aaron Judge, mentioned he wants Boone to stay and play the same role. On top of that, the Yankees did not look like they would win the current season. But the Bronx Bombers surprised everybody, winning their 31st season in a row. They were able to finish 82-80. It is not something to be proud of, but the higher-ups, including the front office and the clubhouse, don’t see the situation as the fans do. The fans see Aaron Boone as part of the problem. But the higher-ups see Boone as part of the solution.

In an overall assessment, Aaron Boone has been pretty successful in the regular season. He has a record of 509-361. But the problem is the lack of success in the postseason. That’s where the fans have issues with the current Yankees management. Moreover, that is the reason why fans don’t think Boone has been successful and want a change. But what worked in Aaron Boone’s favor was the 16th Captain’s support. Moreover, Andy Martino suggests that’s the reason why the higher-ups are not firing Aaron Boone. But what can the Yankees do to get to the top of the hyper-competitive AL East again?

Since Aaron Boone became the Manager in 2018, the Bronx Bombers have not won a World Series. That has been a too-far goal for the 27-time World Series champions in the last decade. During Boone’s tenure, so far, the Bronx Bombers have made the playoffs quite a few times but could not go the distance. They did not end up winning the last series of the season. However, the 2023 season has been nothing short of a “Disaster.”

Even Brian Cashman, the Yankees GM, termed the current season a disaster. At least in the last few seasons, the Yankees were managing to make the postseason. Moreover, it has been for the first time since 2016 that the Yankees did not make the postseason. For the first time, Aaron Boone failed to guide the Yankees to the playoffs. In 2023, the Yankees had too many injury concerns and key players not delivering at the right time.
