The New York Yankees have had a tumultuous season despite having a strong start in the initial two months. The Bombers were the first team to log 50 wins and by the time the season entered into the All-Star break, the team plummeted to 58-40 abysmal win-loss record.

Needless to say, criticism was bound to happen, especially with the competitive environment the franchise harbours in the Bronx. However, it turns out, the vile backlash didn’t sit well with New York Yankees veteran starting pitching Nestor Cortes as he lashed out at his team’s haters with a strong dig on a popular social media platform.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Nestor Cortes has fiercely defended his team against critics who have been vocal about their struggles this season. Amid an appalling stretch, MLB pundits and fans haven’t missed a single chance to call out the franchise’s roster problems and lack of intent on the field. However, Cortes appeared displeased by the continuous scathing attacks as he used his X handle to address the ill practices. During the All-Star game, the pitcher called out the hypocrisy of Yankee haters by stating that those who criticise the Yanks want to be a part of the esteemed organisation in reality. Their hate is a product of jealousy and desperation. Not only that, Cortes added that to wear the pinstripes every day is a matter of pride for him.

Additionally, Nestor Cortes boasted the New York Yankees’ competitiveness, highlighting how the team always lands up in playoff contention each year. “I’m blessed to be able to compete for a playoff spot and always be contenders at the end,” Cortes concluded in his social media tweet. Cortes remarked that many critics “wanna be us,” indicating that the envy of the Yankees’ historical success fuels much of the negative commentary. That being said, the pitcher is determined to prove the doubters wrong. He expressed confidence that the Yanks have the talent and determination to turn their season around and silence their critics once and for all. Meanwhile, the All-Star break will end this weekend, and the Bronx Bombers will resume the second half of the season on Saturday with a three-game home series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The mid-season MLB trade deadline will close on August 1 and the New York Yankees are expected to be buyers given their recent slump. Infield and bullpen could be two major areas of concern going forward. Meanwhile, Yankee captain Aaron Judge, who stays in close proximity to front-office matters, opened up on the franchise’s trade plans.

Aaron Judge added that the current New York Yankees is strong and capable of a second-half resurgence. However, Judge is also open to embracing all the help he can get at the trade deadline. He expects the front office to fill roster gaps that they deem necessary, and the rest of the stuff stays in players’ hands.
