The 2023 MLB season humbled the 27-time World Series champions, the New York Yankees, in the literal sense. The team finished outside the postseason with an abysmal record of 82-80. That is way below the Bronx Bombers’ set standards in Major League Baseball. Needless to say, questions over the team’s ability to bounce back were bound to arise.

The New York Yankees’ subpar run has been a set pattern in this past decade. Since 2009, the club has not won a single World Series title. That says a lot about the problematic pattern of choking on the big stage. However, ahead of the pivotal 2024 season, skipper Aaron Boone is confident of an imminent turnaround.

The 2023 season downfall was largely tough to endure for New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone. His job came under imminent threat. However, the players and peers positive feedback saved the day. Regardless, Boone is entering his final year in 2024. His future as a Yankee manager depends on how the team performs in the forthcoming season. Meanwhile, the manager recently spoke to ‘The Show” podcast and reflected on the brutal season. He says the 2023 season was something no Yankee never wished to be a part of. But overall, he considers the setback as a blessing in disguise. Boone feels this kind of disappointment often serves as an extra motivation to do better in the future.

And the New York Yankees will head into the 2024 season with the same mindset. As it stands, the Bronx Bombers are treating the 2023 season downfall as a learning curve. Aaron Boone further added on the podcast that he expects the Yanks to be a championship-winning team in 2024. “I sit here, and I think we have a chance to be really good. And we’re going in with that focus,” added Boone. He also highlighted how managing injuries and workload will be a crucial factor. Additionally, the skipper acknowledged the growing competition in the Al-East division. With the Blue Jays and Orioles witnessing a resurgence, the Bombers are wary of the threat. However, the manager is confident in his team’s ability to absorb the pressure and come out stronger than ever this season.

Yankees Lose Hector Neris, Focus Shifts On Reunion With Ex-Relievers

In another disappointing news, the New York Yankees have lost top reliever Hector Neris to the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs signed Neris in a one-year $9 million contract. With that, the Yanks have two options left: Keynan Middleton and Wandy Peralta. The two ex-Yankees could find a way back home this off-season. Peralta remained a key figure in the Yankees’ highly successful bullpen in the 2023 season.

He posted a 2.83 ERA across 63 games off the pen. On the other hand, Keynan Middleton joined the Yanks at the trade deadline. The pitcher left a decent mark on the mound. However, an unfortunate injury shunted his growth. Subsequently, both the pitchers entered off-season this winter. Regardless, amid a lack of options, the duo could find their way back home.
