After a promising result from the Singapore GP, Red Bull was optimistic about ending the winless streak in Austin. Although the team has to wait longer to end the win drought, the US GP has been scrutinized by FIA. The Milton Keynes-based outfit was accused of using an illegal device to alter the height of RB20 during Parc Ferme. Following a probe by the FIA, the governing body confirmed teh existence of an unauthorized tool.
Thus, it was expected that Red Bull would be given a penalty, as they fear Championship disqualification. However, FIA didn’t have any evidence of whether the team used the device between Saturday and Sunday to change the car’s height. Therefore, the Austrian outfit was cleared of allegations, leaving McLaren and other F1 teams in disbelief. Amid all the chaos, McLaren boss Zak Brown has suggested a unique way to ensure the integrity of Parc Ferme regulation.
Zak Brown Proposes “Sign Here” Method To Uphold The Sanctity Of Red Bull’s Bib Device
The Woking-based outfit is currently the front-runner for both the world championships. Meanwhile, its biggest competitor is Red Bull. While McLaren is topping the Constructors Chart, Max Verstappen maintains a 55-point lead over Lando Norris in WDC. Therefore, McLaren boss Zak Brown was unhappy with the lack of FIA scrutiny over the front bib violation. However, no mechanism exists to determine whether the defending champions have previously breached the Parc Ferme regulation time.
This situation has become a battlefield as both teams fire verbal shots at each other. The recent crack came from Zak Brown, who demanded a signed affidavit from RBR personnel to ensure fair use of the device. In an interaction with Daily Mail, Brown suggested that the RBR leaders and Mechanics should sign an affidavit confirming that the team has never used any illegal tool. Brown vocalized thoughts of other F1 teams, stating that they believe RBR has violated the Parc Ferme rule. Therefore, the old-fashioned way of “sign here” is the best option to find the truth.
Further, the American executive wants the FIA to take strict action, as the consequences of such actions should serve as a deterrent. He also highlighted some repercussions from the past, such as teams being excluded from the championship after being convicted of malpractice. Ultimately, Brown demanded a high-magnitude punishment if the Parc Ferme regulations were infringed.
Max Verstappen Sidesteps Brown-Horner Verbal Barrage
Amid all the verbal barrage, Max Verstappen wants to avoid chaos. Speaking to De Telegraaf, Verstappen highlighted the animosity between Christian Horner and Zak Brown. This explains the reason for a back-and-forth verbal fight between the two executives.
However, the Dutchman asserted it was not his concern, as he maintains a decent relationship with Zak Brown. The triple champion remains unfazed by the off-track drama, as he is the sole performer for the Bulls. Moreover, he will focus on ending a nine-race winless streak in Mexico.
