The New York Yankees bounced back bravely after a horrendous 82-80 record season last year. With a stronger roster and renewed purpose, Aaron Judge led the team to live up to the pre-season expectations. Now, the focus will shift to playoffs, where the Yanks will aim for the championship ring.

That being said, the regular season concluded on Sunday with the New York Yankees achieving the best record in MLB. Previously, the team also cinched the AL-East division while claiming home advantages for the ALDS and ALCS. Owing to an extraordinary season, the Yanks have gotten five nominees for the All-MLB season team.

The New York Yankees, the AL-East division champions and the team with the best record in AL, are once again making headlines with five players nominated for the 2024 All-MLB Team. Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Austin Wells, and Luis Gil have all made the final nominee cut, with the voting currently in progress. The Yankees’ captain and perennial MVP contender, Aaron Judge, leads the group of nominees. He put up another monstrous season, slashing .322/.458/.701 with 58 home runs and 144 RBIs. His slugging percentage of .701 is the highest by any player since Barry Bonds in 2004. Meanwhile, generational star Juan Soto, the Yanks’ marquee off-season trade acquisition, has been another key contributor.

Soto finished the regular season with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, and a .419 on-base percentage, reminding everyone why he’s considered one of the best hitters in baseball. Another key player to make the list is mid-season trade deadline acquisition Jazz Chisholm Jr. In 2024, he posted strong numbers with 24 home runs and 73 RBIs while also swiping 40 stolen bases. Moreover, his athleticism makes him a standout on the basepath and third base, where he’s seen increased playing time. Austin Wells, the Yankees’ young catcher, has also earned a nomination. A highly-touted prospect, Wells has lived up to the hype in his first full MLB season with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs. Lastly, Luis Gil rounds out the New York Yankees’ nominees with his stellar performance on the mound as a full-time starter. Gil posted a 3.50 ERA with 171 strikeouts over a career-high 151.2 innings pitched.

Following a 6-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone reflected on the long and challenging season. “To end up with the best record in the American League, I think it’s something to be proud of,” Boone said. He acknowledged the ups and downs his team faced but emphasized their resilience to rise to the occasion.

The New York Yankees had their share of injuries, slumps, and challenges, but they consistently found ways to win and secure the top spot in the league. Now, with the postseason on the horizon, Boone expressed optimism and excitement about the future. “We’re ready. We know what’s at stake, and this group is focused on making a deep run in October,” the skipper added.
