Aaron Judge is the biggest source of hope for the New York Yankees. He has been the team’s biggest superstar since the epic 2022 season. The California native was able to break the 1961 home run record of Roger Maris, surpassing the 61 HR mark. Since then, he holds the American League HR record for a single season. In 2022, the Bronx Bombers extended Judge’s contract for a record nine-year deal worth $360 million. Then, they made him their new franchise captain, succeeding Derek Jeter. Under the legendary shortstop, the NY side had won five World Series championships. Fans wonder how many and when Aaron Judge will lead the Pinstripes to be the world champions again.
Moreover, his consistency in hitting home runs has always made him the fan-favorite. In 2024, the California native was in his finest form until he got stuck to yet another slump. He started the ongoing regular season with an early slump when he took seven games to hit his first home run of the season. But this current home run drought is so close to the playoffs that fans are suddenly having bad thoughts. However, the team manager is keeping his faith in the captain.
Aaron Boone Believes “Captain Will Get Rolling” Soon
Apparently, at present, Aaron Judge is in a spot where he feels stuck at work. Since August 26, the Yankees captain has been on a 16-game home run drought. Previously, the 2022 AL MVP had been on a pace to hit 62 or more homers in 2024. Some fans even argued that he can even get to 73, equaling Barry Bonds of 2001. But this 16-game homerless streak has disappointed everybody. Right now, fans feel fear as the team is heading towards the playoffs next month. If Aaron Judge does not get rid of the slump during the playoffs, the offense will collapse horribly. Moreover, fans fear that the California native might end the 2024 season just as he started it. In the month of April, he was taking a lot of time to get back to his groove after he suffered an abs injury during the spring training.
But then, in late April, he started turning things around when he hit homers in back-to-back games. That’s exactly what Aaron Boone hopes to see the captain do again soon. Prior to the game versus the Kansas City Royals, when the Yankees won 4-3 at home in the 11th inning, Aaron Boone told the New York Post, “It’s just hitting.” The manager pointed out the historic season that the captain has beautifully put together this year. He said even during such seasons, the superstar hitter can get stuck. But Boone believes very soon Judge will get things rolling and the team will hop on him again.
Aaron Judge Is Hoping For Positive Results Soon
Like the manager, Aaron Judge also agrees that he will soon get back to his fine hitting form. When he came out of a slump late April, he went on to have a historic 102 games stretch when he had hit 47 home runs. On August 25, the California native hit his 50th & 51st home runs of the season in a single game against the Colorado Rockies. Then, suddenly, his hitting slump began. Lately, he said, “It’s just baseball. I’m feeling fine and results will be soon out there.”
Anyway, when the captain says he is fine, it should calm the fans down because they know how important it is for him to stay healthy. Last month, in a game against the Washington Nationals on the road, Aaron Judge made a stunning homer save in the center field. Then, he suffered a few bumps and bruises due to the collision in the center field wall while making the save. Did that injury cause his sudden slump? But Judge says that he is fine now.
