The New York Yankees front office tickled the wrong nerve of the passionate fan base when they stopped top prospect Jasson Dominguez’s major league call up at the roster expansion day on September 1. A slumping Alex Verdugo continues to play over Jasson, which didn’t sit right for the fans.

Meanwhile, as the New York Yankees later clarified that the major league door for Jasson Dominguez is not entirely closed, the kid took it personally and went on to dominate the Triple-A tournament. His latest towering hit will undoubtedly prompt the Yanks to reconsider their decision with just days left on the regular season.

Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees’ highly touted prospect, has once again made headlines with his back-to-back home runs at the Triple-A level, solidifying his case for a potential promotion to the major league roster. After being initially sidelined during roster expansion, Jasson has since not missed an opportunity to prove himself. During the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s 11-5 win over Syracuse Mets, Dominguez went 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs, including a 413-foot home run. This was not only Dominguez’s seventh-season home run but also his second in two games. With that, the prospect’s average elevated to .313 with .868 OPS. If this is not the sign to call up Dominguez in the Bronx, then the front office needs to do some serious rethinking.

Notably, as per NY Post insiders, Jasson Dominguez’s promotion was essentially blocked due to Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman’s unwarranted desire to trust Alex Verdugo, someone who is going through his worst career stretch. Verdugo appears to beat up and is hitting .235 with 11 home runs and .652 OPS this year. Additionally, Alex has only managed to hit a single home run in the entire second half of the 2024 season. However, the Yankees managerial duo’s blind trust continues to influence their roster decisions. That being said, the fans are eagerly anticipating Dominguez’s return to the big leagues, as many believe that his addition could rejuvenate a team that has struggled to find consistency. While the front office has yet to make a definitive decision, Dominguez’s recent performances have undoubtedly put him on their radar, and a call-up seems increasingly likely as the season progresses.

One of the key reasons behind Jason Dominguez’s denial of major league call-up was the lack of at-bats the kid had had this year. Notably, Jasson struggled with multiple injuries, which kept him out of action for the better half of the season. However, since their return from an oblique strain, he has been performing consistently.

Still, Jasson Dominguez’s progress is not satisfactory, says manager Aaron Boone. In a podcast appearance with Talkin Yanks, Boone said the team needed Dominguez to get consistent at-bats at minor league and ramp up gradually. And he can do that only in minors, as the Yankees do not have an everyday spot for Dominguez in the Yankee lineup.
