The Scuderia squad had an excellent outing in front of the home crowd. Charles Leclerc emerged from the shadows to claim his second victory of the season, and the elated Tifosis celebrated the triumph. However, the Prancing Horses have been grappling with technical issues lately. While teh team was Red Bull’s top competitor in the early season races, the technical woes pulled it down.

Moreover, Enrico Cardile left Ferrari in July, leaving space for the chassis and aerodynamic Technical director. Thus, the Italian team is further impacted as it is without key personnel. However, the team is looking for a potential candidate who could accompany Lewis Hamilton in the 2025 season.

Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has been temporarily handling the technical director duties while the Scuderia searches for a permanent replacement. Although Vasseur has been overseeing this critical area, he hinted that an update on the situation would be coming soon. Ferrari has been linked to Adrian Newey as a potential candidate for the role, mainly once he leaves Red Bull. Despite widespread speculation, Newey and his manager, Eddie Jordan, have remained quiet about his plans. Reports suggest Aston Martin could be Newey’s next destination, though Alpine has also expressed interest. Jordan mentioned that every team on the grid has reached out to Newey at some point.

When asked about the future structure of Scuderia’s technical team and what changes might be expected in Cardile’s absence, Vasseur teased that an official announcement would be made after the Monza race. He confirmed that this upcoming announcement would address the structure of the technical team, indicating that the Maranello squad is close to making a significant decision in this area. Earlier in the season, Ferrari had already confirmed the arrival of Loic Serra from Mercedes. Serra is set to join Ferrari in 2024 as the head of chassis performance, coinciding with Lewis Hamilton’s anticipated move to the team.

Vasseur Feared Leclerc Might Hit A ‘Cliff’ During The Monza Showdown

During the first round of pit stops, the Scuderia boss and the team quickly realized that they had an edge over McLaren regarding tire management. However, it took a few more laps before they were confident that their original race strategy could succeed. The Frenchman noted that their advantage became clear after just ten laps on the hard compound tires; at this point, they were confident they could finish the race without needing an additional stop. Despite this, Vasseur remained cautious, aware that tire performance could suddenly drop off.

Fortunately, this drop-off never occurred. Vasseur praised Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz for their excellent situation management. Both drivers consistently hit their target lap times, ensuring that the strategy played out as planned.
