The New York Yankees attended the Little League Classic tournament last weekend as they touched down to Williamsport for the series finale against Detroit Tigers. Hours leading up to the game, the players, including captain Aaron Judge, were surrounded by kids who wanted a glimpse of their idols.
Meanwhile, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge was undoubtedly the most popular guy as fans couldn’t stop gushing over his presence. However, a day after the event concluded, a New York based little league team coach accused Judge of ignoring his players. Irked by the false narrative, the Yanks stepped in to defend its captain.
Yankees Defend Aaron Judge After Bob Laterza Accuses Him Of Ignoring Staten Island Kids!
In a scathing attack, Staten Island team head coach Bob Laterza called out New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge for deliberately ignoring his team’s kids during the Little League Classic festival. He claimed that Judge interacted with everybody except for the Staten Island team. Bob added that for his team, Judge is a hero, and he should have at least waved to them since Staten Island contributes to his salary. However, the Yanks executives were irked by Laterza’s public outrage and issued a statement to defend the captain. The club revealed that the entire roster spent the whole day interacting with the kids and went out of their way to ensure nobody felt left out.
The New York Yankees accepted that it wasn’t possible to interact with every kid, as over 100 players were a part of the tournament. Regardless, the team made special time for the Staten Island team as they had a game on Sunday. Further in the statement, the organization hit back at Bob Laterza for acting irresponsibly in the media. If he had an issue with Aaron Judge, he could have contacted the team first, expressed his resentment, and become a great example for the kids. “Aaron Judge always acts with kindness and respect. The coach could learn a lot from him,” read Yanks’ statement on the matter. Having said that, regardless of the unwarranted controversy, the Bombers are committed to inviting the Staten Island team to the Yankee Stadium later in the season. They wished the team only success in the Little League championship.
Kids Turn Up With Giant Demand From Aaron Judge
Kids participating in the Little League Classic tournament swamped New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge for autographs and pictures. Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and the rest of the Yankee roster interacted with the kids warmly and the little fans responded back with some crazy and ambitious request, especially from the captain.
A kid asked Aaron Judge to hit a mammoth 474-ft home run. Judge, surprised initially, admitted that it would be a tough challenge. However, he promised the kid that he would try his best to achieve the monstrous mark. “Yeah, no big deal… I think so, I think so. I can reach it,” Judge said. Needless to say, with the kind of form Judge is in, nothing is impossible for him to achieve.
