Ex-Yankee pitcher Luis Severino irked the New York Yankees’ wrong nerve when he said that the team was running on a two-man offense. However, he wasn’t fully wrong, as Aaron Judge and Juan Soto have, in fact, been running the show solely throughout the 2024 MLB season.

And the end result of a paralysed team is obviously an appalling stretch. Currently, the Yanks appear to fall out of postseason race with this trajectory. However, with the season entering it’s final phase, here are some ways the New York Yankees can revive the offense with internal as well as external help.

Internal Solutions For Yankees

Giancarlo Stanton

Besides Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, powerful athlete Giancarlo Stanton had been the New York Yankees most consistent hitter before he strained his hamstring last month. Stanton was under rehab for over four weeks before ramping up field activities just last week. Moreover, the Yanks believe the slugger does not require a minor league rehab assignment and hence, Stanton is expected to be activated by next month. Stanton can bat at clean-up straightaway and get the offensive production running in no time.

Jasson Dominguez

Meanwhile, New York Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez was also activated from IL on Friday, and the Martian went 1-for-4 in his first Triple-A game. Jasson’s been having a hard time lately as he recovered from Tommy John surgery only to pick up an oblique strain in less than a week. Hence, his physical fitness remains a concern. Regardless, Dominguez can be called up in August or September to boost the offense in the final stretch. Dominguez has tons of potential left to unleash, and with the right opportunities, he can surely make a difference.

External Options For Yankees

An Infield Upgrade At Trade Deadline

The New York Yankees need an immediate change at third base, as DJ LeMahieu and Oswaldo Cabrera have been unproductive. Moreover, with the August 1 deadline approaching, the front office can add a couple of upgrades. Jonathan India has been aggressively linked to the team. However, the Reds are yet to determine their stand. Ryan McMahon has been made unavailable by the Rockies. Additionally, Luis Rengifo is back from IL and is an ideal versatile infield candidate. Jazz Chisholm’s name is also being floated. However, his loud personality is a problem for the Yankees. Matt Chapman, Yandy Diaz, and Isaac Paredes are some names the Yanks can pursue at the deadline.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

This might be a controversial take. However, Vladimir Guerrero Jr is open to a trade to the Yankees if given a chance. Vladimir previously expressed profound hate for the organization. However, if the infielder can soften his tone, the Yankees front office can surely lower their guard. Vladimir can split time at first base with Ben Rice and shake up the offense with his clean-hitting ability. Moreover, with the market lacking quality infield options, Vladimir is surely worth a shot, as Toronto Blue Jays will sell him for the right price.
