Despite being one of the most successful Formula One drivers in history, Max Verstappen has received a lot of criticism. The Dutchman is under fire for his on-track performance and off-track behavior. The triple champion had a poor performance in Hungary, failing to win the race again. Furthermore, the race was unable to finish on the podium since the McLaren-Mercedes combo was slightly quicker.

However, the 26-year-old Dutchman yelled at his staff after a stressful day, and everyone heard his radio chimes. As a result, he received harsh criticism for using unacceptable words. Furthermore, his frustration was associated with late-night sim racing, which resulted in a lack of sleep. Rumors circulated that Red Bull might ban the Dutchman from late-night sim racing. However, the triple champion dismissed these rumors, confirming he is not facing any such ban.

Everyone is aware of Verstappen’s love for gaming. He likes to livestream on various platforms while playing online games. However, his hobby purred up a row of critics after the Hungary GP. The F1 experts like Nico Rosberg accused the Dutchman of having lazy habits. Further, he claims this is affecting his on-track performance. Thus, it was expected that the Red Bull might ban him from Sim Racing. However, before the Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen addressed the media and denied that his late-night sim racing was to blame for his performance in Hungary. Verstappen admitted to racing until 3 am but emphasized that this is a normal part of his routine and something significant to him. He reassured everyone that there are no upcoming sim races, so concerns are unnecessary.

Verstappen dismissed the notion that sim racing affected his race performance, arguing that people often find excuses when results don’t go as expected. He pointed out that he had been sim racing since 2015, and it has never hindered his preparation. With three World Championships under his belt, Verstappen is confident in his ability to manage his activities and performance.

In response to discussions with Helmut Marko, Verstappen clarified that there is no ban on his sim racing activities. He asserted that his private time is his own, and he applies the same principle to others in the team regarding their personal time on weekends.

An Uphill Battle Awaits In Belgium As Verstappen Ready To Take A Ten-Grid Place Penalty

The FIA has imposed a huge penalty on the Dutchman ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. The RBR triple champion utilized four internal combustion engines, two control electronics, and energy reserves.

Therefore, Verstappen was on the verge of receiving a grid drop, which, according to sources, the Red Bull team would accept at the forthcoming Belgian weekend. He will be fitted with a new ICE, exceeding the maximum for one season and incurring a 10-grid place penalty for the Spa-Francorchamps event.
