The August 1 mid-season trade deadline will close in a week’s time, and given the recent slump, the New York Yankees are expected to go all in as aggressive buyers. With yet another back to back losses against Tampa Bay Rays, the Yanks are losing the lead to Red Sox in AL-East wildcard race.

Moreover, certain gaps in the roster cannot be overlooked anymore, as they have started to affect the team’s results more consistently. Hence, the Yankees front office are under pressure to look for external reinforcement. Meanwhile, a Rays infielder, recently linked to Bombers in a trade deal, shared his true feeling for the franchise.

The New York Yankees need infield reinforcements as DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres continue to decline. Meanwhile, ahead of the trade deadline, the Yanks were linked to Tampa Bay Rays infielder Amed Rosaria. A former Mets prospect, Rosario is known for his defensive versatility and consistent batting. He played at shortstop, first base, second base, third base, and even right field in his illustrious MLB career. Interestingly, the Yanks had an opportunity to sign Rosaria. But they chose to trade Jon Berti instead in a three-team trade deal that saw Amed land at Tampa. Regardless, the infielder’s love affair with the city of New York is not yet lost.

During the ongoing series at Yankee Stadium, Amed Rosario reacted to New York Yankees lineup rumors and affirmed that he would love to play in New York again. “If somebody says they don’t want to play in New York, it’s not true. Everybody wants to play for the Yankees,” Rosario said. Not only that, the infielder revealed that the Mets initially gave him an opportunity to prove his talent, and New York is where his major league career took off. Hence, given an opportunity to play again for the city, Amed Rosario won’t shy away. He feels New York is different as the spotlight and pressure helps him thrive. That being said, it would be interesting to see if the Yanks approach the Rays for a potential trade deal. Besides Rosario, the Rays are also a powerhouse of strong bullpen arms, which could be another major boost in the Bomber’s broken roster.

The New York Yankees lost two back-to-back games against the Tampa Bay Rays to put the four-game series in jeopardy. Despite winning the opener by 6-1, the offense crumbled to go 1-9 and 4-6 in the next two games. Meanwhile, skipper Aaron Boone reacted to the team’s incessant struggles and admitted that the game was hard.

Aaron Boone asserted that the New York Yankees are way better than what’s on display in the field. “We know we’re better than this. We’ve got to come ready and salvage the series tomorrow,” Boone added. Additionally, the skipper called out the problematic trend of leaving runners stranded on bases, stating that hitters have to find a way to break through.
