Aaron Judge is one of the most familiar faces in New York sports. He is one of the best power hitters in MLB right now. Moreover, he is the captain of the NY Yankees team. The California native has been the 16th captain of the NY side’s history. He was also the Most Valued Player in the American League back in 2022. On top of that, the Yankees captain broke the AL Home Run record that year. He hit 62 homers in 2022, surpassing another Yankees legend, Roger Maris’ 61 home run record that has been there since 1961.

After achieving the single-season home run record, it was quite tough for Aaron Judge not to become a familiar face in the Big Apple. Any baseball fan all over the USA can recognize the Yankees captain. However, that does not mean that any sports fan in America will recognize him correctly. Lately, the 2022 AL MVP shared an interesting and funny fan encounter.

Aaron Judge can be the most famous baseball player in the world. However, he might not be as recognizable as he thought he was in his own country. On Wednesday, the Yankees captain shared a funny story during an interview with Casa De Klub podcast of Corey Kluber. One fine day, he was grocery shopping in Tampa Bay during Spring Training when he noticed someone looking at him. The six-time All-Star thought the fan who eyed him up was a Yankees Faithful. However, he could not have been more wrong. The fan approached him and said how puzzling it was for him to see Judge there. Moreover, the fan said that he just watched Judge play basketball in Orlando. That’s when the Yankees captain realized the fan confused him with Aaron Gordon, who was back then the Orlando Magic forward.

However, it is in fact quite easy to mistake Judge for Gordon. They have a lot of similarities. Starting with their heights as Aaron Gordon is 6’8, whereas Judge is 6’7. Moreover, they might also bear some resemblance as they hail from California. Then, Aaron Judge is 32 whereas, Aaron Gordon is 28. Finally, the biggest similarity is their name. Hence, it is quite possible for someone to confuse Judge with Gordon. However, the biggest difference between the two is that Gordon won a championship in 2023 with the Denver Nuggets. On the other hand, the Yankees captain is still looking for his first world championship success.

There is a good possibility that Juan Soto might leave the Yankees after this season. He will be the biggest free agent in the next offseason, and the NY side might fail to impress Scott Boras with their offer for the Dominican superstar. However, as long as the Judge-Soto duo is there in the lineup, the offense of the Bombers is still one of the best in the league. Even then, the Yankees are struggling at present with a 6-16 record since June 13.

But Aaron Judge lately hit his 33rd home run of the season. He is still leading the home run list. The fans believe in the Judge-Soto duo to turn things around. But if Soto moves elsewhere in the offseason, the offense will get a whole lot weaker. Nonetheless, the NY side had a great start to the season in the first two months. Can they get back to winning ways again?
