Amid this, Judge’s personal hitting coach took a dig at the franchise, and now, Aaron Judge has reacted to the same.
Aaron Judge Refuses To Add On Richard Schenck’s Yankees Criticism
In the latest development, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge has publicly distanced himself from recent comments made by his personal hitting coach, Richard Schenck, who criticized the franchise’s offensive development as “terrible.” Schneck, who runs a hitting club, coached Judge for many years, and apparently, the captain still visits the coach every two weeks to get guidance on his swing and stride. Meanwhile, Richard dropped a comment on the YES Network video wherein he called the Yanks’ offensive development program terrible because despite Judge hitting like an MVP, the team succumbed 13 times in the past 18 games played in the month of June.
However, Aaron Judge diffused the situation and added nothing when the media quizzed him about the controversy. Judge said Richard Schneck’s comments do not involve him. He cannot speak for anybody else, as every human being is entitled to an opinion. “I’ve got no control over what another person does. It’s out of my control. I’ve got nothing for you,” Aaron Judge said to the reporters after Yankees 3-5 loss to Boston Red Sox. However, Richard’s criticism wasn’t completely untrue. The Bombers have let down their captain big time this year. Besides Juan Soto, every hitter in the 9-member lineup is struggling to put in extra-base hits. In June, the Yanks ranked No. 17 among all teams in the majors with a .243 batting average. And meanwhile, Aaron Judge has already stacked 32 home runs with a .310 average, 83 RBIs and 1.123 OPS.
Aaron Boone Ignores Richard Schneck’s Comments
After Aaron Judge, Yankees skipper Aaron Boone also responded to Richard Schneck’s comments on the franchise’s player development program. He said everyone is entitled to an opinion and especially when a team is not performing well as per standards, people tend to take such shots. However, for Yanks, as a unit, its important to stay together and focus on the bigger picture.
“You can’t get all consumed with all that stuff. We’ve got enough to worry about,” Aaron Boone said. While the captain and the skipper have brushed aside the criticism, for now, the offensive lacklustre will come back to haunt them if the woes are not resolved. The season is already halfway done, and the Yankees are slipping in the postseason race.
