Needless to say, the New York Yankees, a team with high expectations and a storied history, are under pressure to deliver results. The New York Yankees’ series finale contest with Cincinnati Reds heated up after both sides players engaged in a standoff during national anthem. Ian Hamilton and Cody Poteet held their ground at the Yanks deck whereas Graham Ashcraf and Carson Spiers came out for the Reds. Both sides refused to stand down and the deadlock went over for five minutes before umpires intervened.
After umpires warned both sides’ pitchers, Yankees manager Aaron Boone called Hamilton and Poteet back into the dugout, thus ending the standoff. However, the moment went viral on the internet, thus adding a twist to the competitive matchup.
