The New York Yankees’ ouster from the 2023 MLB season postseason was directly linked to captain Aaron Judge and his toe injury, which led to a 2-month long absence. During his IL stint, the team’s offensive production dropped to an absolute bottom, which resulted in the inevitable.

However, this year, Aaron Judge has stayed healthy, with his offensive numbers hitting the ceiling. The captain is very much set on a path to recreate the iconic 2022 season numbers and is also leading the AL-MVP race. However, despite everything Judge has done for the team, an unnamed AL scout took an indirect dig at the slugger’s injury history.

Aaron Judge, one of the most formidable hitters in Major League Baseball, has had a career plagued by injuries. Since 2018, the New York Yankees captain has gone down with 10 different ailments, some more severe than others. His injury history includes various ailments, ranging from oblique strains to rib fractures, which have often sidelined him for significant stretches. Last year alone, Judge missed over 2 months with hip and toe issues. While this year, the captain has stayed healthy, barring the hit-by-pitch scare against the Orioles, an anonymous AL scout took a stern dig over the slugger’s injury history whilst simultaneously predicting the Yanks’ potential downfall in the latter half of the year.

While calling out the New York Yankees for its lack of production from the lower order, the anonymous AL scout said that only the top four guys are responsible for quality offensive production this year. Moreover, with injuries taking over, it’s highly likely that if Aaron Judge goes down with some kind of ailment similar to the 2023 season, the Yanks’ offence will collapse. The scout firmly mentioned that lack of production from lower order could potentially limit the team’s success this year. Notably, the scout’s stern assessment comes days after Giancarlo Stanton landed on IL with a hamstring strain. Stanton, who surprisingly had been in sublime form as a DH this year, strained his hamstring and is expected to miss four weeks at tops. Meanwhile, Judge will replace Stanton as DH, with Trent Grisham taking over centre field in the near future.

Aaron Judge faced his first serious injury scare of the season during the New York Yankees home series against the Baltimore Orioles held last week. The Orioles were uncharacteristically aggressive and drilled Judge with a 94 mph fastball on his bottom hand. Judge had to exit the game for imaging and X-Ray scans.

While Aaron Judge survived the scare as his X-Rays came back negative, he was pissed at the Orioles for resorting to unfair means to keep him off the plate. However, at the same time, the Yankees captain ruled out the possibility of an intentional HBP incident. He apparently saw the Orioles trying to pitch up and in. Overall, Judge skipped a game and eventually returned for the series finale.
