Relief pitcher Yoendrys Gomez salvaged the damage by pitching 4.2 scoreless innings before newly acquired Phil Bickford closed out the game. However, Rodon’s early irrecoverable damage led to an 8-1 loss for the Bronx Bombers, that too at home.
That being said, Carlos Rodon walked out amid resounding boos from the home fans as he watched his team go down; the left-handed pitcher was reduced to tears. He was quietly sitting in the dugout and got tear eye. As Rodon covered his tears with his cap, Gleyber Torres, sitting right next to the pitcher, wrapped his hand around his teammate and comforted him. Carlos was inconsolable and eventually went back into the clubhouse to avoid further embarrassment. Meanwhile, Yankees manager Aaron Boone backed his pitcher, saying it was not the worst thing that could happen. The team has witnessed a tough week after losing three games on the trot. But it’s a wake-up call for the team to understand that nothing comes easily in baseball. And as for Carlos Rodon, Boone believes that the pitcher has handled adversities well in the past, and this one would be no different.

Despite a season worse implosion on the plate, New York Yankees have rallied behind Carlos Rodon to show their support. Juan Soto reacted on Rodon getting emotional to opine that ups and downs are a part of this tournament. The season is never easy despite the Yankees getting a great start.
“Nobody says it’s gonna be flowers to roll all the way to the World Series,” Juan Soto said in the post-game interview. Hence, the generational talent urged his Yankees teammates to take the loss like a man and keep moving forward as the season is still long. Notably, the Yanks have suffered three losses in a row for the first time this year.
