The ‘APXGP’ Team Is Ready To Revv Up The Excitement

The release date of the Lewis Hamilton-inspired F1 movie speculated to be Apex, will be June 25th. While the movie’s production is still ongoing, it will be completed soon. Recently, the crew was spotted shooting at Silverstone after completing the Monaco GP sequence. Brad Pitt told Sky Sports that he will play a middle-aged mentor/retired racer, Sonny Hayes. The racer had to retire after a huge crash in the 1990s. Despite a life-threatening crash, Hayes is looking for an F1 comeback.

Subsequently, a struggling F1 team owner (played by Javier Bardem) hires Hayes as a second driver at the APXGP team. However, his primary role is to groom and mentor a young driver named Joshua Pierce (played by Damson Idris). While Silverstone would be the essential part of the story, places like Hungary, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi are also on the list. Ultimately, the film will feature APXGP’s team competing against nine F1 teams. The movie will depict real-life teams, racers, race promoters, etc.

Moroever, the feature that makes Apex stand out is the real-time footage of the GP Weekends. Conjointly, Lewis Hamilton’s behind-the-scene efforts also helped the team to match the intensity of Formula One. The seven-time world champion is the movie’s producer and consultant, sharing his insights to make it more realistic.

Lewis Hamilton discussed the challenges of capturing the essence of racing movies during an appearance on the popular YouTube series Hot Ones. He emphasized the difficulty of authentically portraying the speed and intensity of racing in film. Further, Hamilton explained that due to practical limitations, filming involves following cars with cameras attached to trucks, which cannot match the high racing speeds. As a result, scenes are often shot at slower speeds and then sped up to create the illusion of racing at full throttle.

Moreover, the Briton compared earlier eras in filmmaking, citing methods used by icons like Steve McQueen, where cameras were mounted in daring positions such as on the hoods of cars or even on drivers’ helmets. Subsequently, he contrasted these methods with contemporary technological advancements, which allowed for more innovative and realistic filming techniques. Hamilton expressed confidence in Joseph Kosinski, the director of an upcoming racing movie starring Brad Pitt, suggesting that Kosinski’s approach and use of cutting-edge technology would impress audiences with their authenticity and cinematic impact.
