Draymond Green has been with the Golden State Warriors since 2012. Since then, he has helped the franchise become a modern-day powerhouse. The veteran forward played an integral part in the four championship runs of the team representing the Bay Area. However, he was not alone as he had great teammates in the Splash Brothers – Klay Thompson and the Three-point King Stephen Curry. After all these years, Green’s teammates are quite familiar with his antics. But they just can’t deny his importance and value, as he helped them win four titles in a span of eight years.

However, it is his antics on and off the court that got him into trouble quite a few times. For instance, in the 2023-2024 season, the back-to-back suspensions of Green early in the season messed it up for the team. Without Draymond Green, the Dub’s defence got really weak. But his antics have caused a lot of problems for the team as well over the years. Lately, on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, the veteran forward admitted his regret for one of his antics.

Draymond Green Admits His Regret For Punching Jordan Poole

When the young centre Jordan Poole entered the Golden State Warriors, Green took him under his wing. Things between the two could have been a whole lot better if, a couple of years ago, the forward had not punched the young centre during practice. Later, somebody released a video of that incident, and it got really embarrassing for Green and, most importantly, the team. Lately, on his podcast, the veteran forward invited his teammate Kevon Looney, and he talked about this incident as a regret. Green said, “I was so embarrassed last year to be around the team with JP still there.” He used to be late for everything that had to do with the team as Poole was there. Green didn’t want to show his face as he was very embarrassed.

Moreover, he added, “I was late for about 20 times last year.” Draymond Green revealed that he used to time “Everything up” just to be late. Even to this day, it is not very clear that what Jordan Poole had said to make Green that made. Surely, it must not have been Poole’s fault because it seemed like Stephen Curry and head coach Steve Kerr came in Poole’s defense right away. Later, the Warriors extended JP’s contract for a long term. As a result, things were even more embarrassing for the veteran forward. Nonetheless, after the failure in the 2022-2023 season, the Dubs traded Poole to the Washington Wizards.

Things Ended Terribly Between Poole And The Dubs

Due to Green’s antics, things got messed up again for the Warriors. Jordan Poole played a very important role in helping the GSW win the 2022 NBA Championship. But one year later, the Dubs let him go. Previously, they looked at the young guard like the future cornerstone of the team.

But the punching incident in practice messed up the situation. Clearly, the relationship between Draymond Green and JP was beyond repair. Albeit, Greed did apologize. Nonetheless, the “Damage was already done.” The Warriors had to let one of them go. And eventually, it was the young guard.
