The New York Yankees are missing generational star Juan Soto in the offense as it was vividly evident during the recently concluded home series against star stubbed LA Dodgers. Yanks lost the series for the first time since April as offense kneeled down against Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

However, in the series finale held on Sunday, the New York Yankees redeemed themselves to avoid a sweep. That being said, as Juan Soto was out with a forearm issue, Trent Grisham took his place. But when the home fans heckled Grisham unnecessarily, captain Aaron Judge hit back at fans and took a strong stand for his teammate.

Juan Soto is momentarily out with a forearm inflammation injury as he sat out for the entirety of the home series against the LA Dodgers. Meanwhile, backup outfielder Trent Grisham replaced Soto in the outfield and was booed during his at-bat on Sunday. With the Yankees losing the series at home, the crowd at the Yankee Stadium was unhinged and heckled Grisham with Juan Soto chants. However, Grisham took the criticism by heart and turned the boos into cheers in less than a minute. As the crowd erupted in ‘We Want Soto’ chants, Grisham smoked a three-run bomb to right field and put the Yanks in a comfortable 5-3 lead. Before the center fielder’s shot landed over the right field porch, the fans chanted ‘We Want Grisham’ to praise him.

However, irrespective of the fans’ change of heart, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge was unimpressed with home fans’ rowdy behavior. He urged people to respect Trent Grisham as he is also working hard like everybody else and is a quality ball player. Of course, losing Juan Soto to an injury is frustrating as the generational stat has been carrying the team alone this year. However, Judge said that Soto would eventually be back and that the fans must be patient with the rest of the roster as well. “I wasn’t too happy with it, but I think he made a good point with that homer,” Judge said in the post-game interview. Meanwhile, Trent Grisham refused to say much about the fans’ unruly behavior. He said he heard Soto chants and was happy when those converted into ‘We Want Grisham’ chants in no time.

While the New York Yankees ended up with a series loss against the LA Dodgers, captain Aaron Judge continued to unleash his dominance with sublime form. Judge slammed a solo home run and 2 RBIs in the 6-4 series finale win on Sunday. With 24 home runs already in 67 games, Judge is on a pace to finish with 58 long hits this year.

Notably, Aaron Judge is the record holder of hitting most home runs (62) in a single MLB season. He achieved the mega milestone in 2022 and won his career-first AL-MVP trophy. This year, despite a slow start, the Yankees captain is set on a path to produce something extraordinary once again.
