Until 2021, almost every record was autographed by Lewis Hamilton or Michael Schumacher. However, Max Verstappen rewrote the record books with a spectacular show of racing abilities. The Dutchman has been a standout performer, with no one matching his incredible skills. While Verstappen has dominated, Mercedes has struggled.

Consequently, Lewis Hamilton has witnessed the lowest performance since his debut. The seven-time world champion has struggled to win a single race. Furthermore, he has expressed his discontent with W15 and the Mercedes technical staff. As the Briton prepares to join Ferrari for the 2019 season, his teammate Geroge Russell has pointed out a plus point.

Lewis Hamilton will live his childhood ambition of racing for Ferrari, but he has an uphill battle this season. Subsequently, the British driver has only 42 points from eight Grand Prix races. Despite his desire to finish his final season at Mercedes on a high note, the W15’s difficulties limit his performance. Although Mercedes is always working on changes, core issues continue. This was apparent when the squad started brightly in Monaco on Friday but stumbled in qualification. The starlet racer was unhappy with his performance but kept his head up. However, he has expressed dissatisfaction with the W15 vehicle, calling it ‘off-pace.’ The car is experiencing aerodynamic difficulties that vary every weekend. However, amid the chaos, George Russell has explained how Hamilton’s exit might be a positive for Mercedes. The Briton believes that Hamilton leaving the team now is much better than if he had left in 2022. During an interaction with Daily Mail, Russell said ‘change ignites a new spark.’ Therefore, Russell is adamant that the team will rise in the upcoming seasons.

On the other hand, team principal Toto Wolff reflected on his bond with Hamilton. During an interview with the PA news agency, Wolff stated that if Ferrari could produce a competitive vehicle for Hamilton, he could return to his golden days. Furthermore, the Austrian CEO lauded his friendship with Hamilton, stating that they have a fantastic bond off the track. Ultimately, he added, he wants Hamilton to succeed even if they become a competition.

The recent Monte Carlo street circuit became a nightmare for a few drivers. The narrow streets and bumpy corners make such circuits difficult to drive, and as a result, most drivers are not fans of street tracks.

However, the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, feels these circuits flavor the race. The Briton feels street circuits are more challenging due to the open area and risk. Further, he added that such tracks add more variety to the F1 schedule.
