But the NY Yankees have done really well to lead the AL East for the most part of the first month of the ongoing regular season. However, other than the absence of Cole, the slow start of the Yankees captain was bothering them a lot. But the center fielder of the NY side is beginning to turn a corner offensively. In the previous seven games, Aaron Judge slashed .333/.445/.704 with an OPS of .1.159 and hit three homers. Recently, the Yankees captain celebrated his 32nd birthday. His abs injury during Spring Training had a connection to his oblique area that made him miss several games.
Nevertheless, he managed to return to the lineup in time for the Opening Day. Hence, the question is if missing a few games in the Spring Training caused his early season slump. Recently, Aaron Judge addressed that question in an interview with Inside the Pinstripes, saying, “I don’t think so.” He believes it has been just another regular slump that he would go through in a season. Moreover, Judge said he went through the same slump last summer. On top of that, the 2022 AL MVP believes the last seven games did not show the best of what he can do. Aaron Judge said, “No, his swing is not where he wants to be at present.”
The Yankees Manager Said Their Captain Always Look For Perfection
Prior to Game 2 between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees, Aaron Boone mentioned in the dugout at Camden Yards, “Judge looks for perfection. That’s what makes him who he is.” Other than the Yankees captain, hitters like Anthony Volpe, Oswaldo Cabrera, Anthony Rizzo, Juan Soto, and Alex Verdugo have experienced impressive starts to the 2024 season. They had a great time at the plate against the Milwaukee Brewers before the Orioles series.
Moreover, the Yankees scored 15 runs in consecutive games. Since they lost the first game of the four-game series against the Orioles, they must be looking for another offensive explosion like they had against the Brewers. According to Sports Illustrated, the sky is the limit for the Yankees in case of how many runs they can score in a game as Aaron Judge and Juan Soto are playing at an MVP level.
