Red Bull’s Second driver, Sergio Perez, had a season of ups and downs last year. He won a couple of races and had a good start to the year. But then Checo failed to hold on to the momentum from the Miami Grand Prix. At the end of the 2023 season, he helped Red Bull enjoy their first one-two finish of a season. However, the gap between Max Verstappen and Checo was concerning. Moreover, the inconsistency of the Mexican driver and his struggles at qualifying sessions drew a lot of criticism. As a result, Red Bull had to look for his replacement as well. In fact, the favorite person to take Checo’s place in the Austrian outfit is Daniel Ricciardo.

The Aussie was part of the Milton Keynes outfit early in the 2023 season. Later, Red Bull moved him to their sister team, Alpha Tauri, to get some much-needed driving practice. Moreover, there were a lot of other options who could take the second Red Bull seat as well. But the Mexican driver has a contract till 2024. And Sergio Perez has shown consistency so far in 2024. Hence, there’s a good possibility that Red Bull might extend his contract. Even Checo mentioned by next month, he will have clarity over his F1 future.

Recently, in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports F1, Sergio Perez said he is pretty relaxed about his Red Bull contract situation. That’s good news because last year, he had to hire a mental coach to regain self-confidence. But this time, Checo seems much calmer and more collected. The Mexican racer mentioned that his main focus is on F1 Motorsport. And whatever happens next, Checo said he’s pleased about what he has been able to achieve in the sport up till now. He said he believes it is just a matter of time before he gets clarity about his Red Bull future.

Moreover, Sergio Perez mentioned that the driver’s market is moving, and in the following few weeks, the teams will see a lot of movements. Hence, the Mexican driver expects to know what he will be doing next year “Within this month.” Anyway, Checo has let his performance do all the talking so far this season. Moreover, Christian Horner said the current situation is as such that his team’s seat is still “Checo’s to lose.” But Sergio Perez has been driving like someone who wants to stay at F1. Now, what will Red Bull do with the Mexican driver?

It was really a shock when Lewis Hamilton made a public announcement on Instagram that he was really leaving Mercedes to join the Maranello-based team. He said he is looking for a new challenge at 39. Moreover, Hamilton said he feels he has achieved everything he could have with the Silver Arrows. As a result, the in-form Carlos Sainz Jr. had to make way for the seven-time champion at Ferrari.

Hence, the Spaniard is also looking for a drive in 2025. He has been the only non-Red Bull driver to win one or more races since 2023. And now a seat is open in Mercedes. Will Carlos replace Hamilton in the German outfit? Or maybe he can replace Sergio Perez in Red Bull. The Spaniard admitted that his team has been talking to everyone in the paddock to secure a seat for the following year.
