The New York Yankees had a pretty long Injured List in 2023. That really did not help their cause. Moreover, the NY side finished fourth in the American League East division last season. They ended up with an awful 82-80 record. It was indeed their worst season in the last 30 years. Moreover, they could not make the postseason for the first time since 2016. Hence, the 2023 season was a tremendous shame for the Bronx Bombers. Moreover, the biggest blow to the team came when Aaron Judge had a freak accident at the Los Angeles Dodgers fence. The Yankees captain could not play 35 games on the trot.

Without their captain, the Yankees could not maintain a winning streak. Since then, the Pinstripes have made several changes to their roster. Now, the outfield looks one of the best in the league. It seems like nothing can really stop the 27-time champions from making the postseason this year. The only concern is the health of the roster. If they have another long IL in 2024, they might not make the postseason again. However, in the current spring training, the Yankees skipper revealed there are two players who won’t play with health issues already.

Recently, Aaron Boone gave the spring training report mentioning RHP Scott Effross and catcher Jose Trevino as new names on the Injured List. Last August, Trevino had a season-ending wrist surgery. Lately, the Yankees manager mentioned that the 2022 All-Star and Gold Glove winner won’t be able to return until March. It is because he had a strained calf injury two weeks before the spring training camp started. That’s the report Boone gave on February 15. Later on Tuesday, the Yankees skipper mentioned that Jose Trevino won’t take too long to return to the lineup. He must be ready for the Opening Day.

In Port Charlotte Fla, Boone mentioned that he had a talk with Trevino on Tuesday morning. As per Aaron Boone, Trevino might be ready to return by the end of the week. He mentioned, “Next week, we can say, okay, we are targeting this for a game.” However, the Yankees manager mentioned that before the comeback game arrives, Trevino got to get through the running progression of the following week. All Spring, Trevino was catching bullpens and live batting practices. But the previous week, he started hitting and running, too.

Aaron Boone mentioned that Tuesday was a heavy day for the running progression of Jose Trevino. He mentioned that there have been three more running ramp-ups scheduled for the catcher. Moreover, Boone mentioned that Trevino is doing well. But he does not want to mess the calf injury up in the spring training.

The idea is to keep the catcher away from the IL on the Opening Day. Moreover, Boone mentioned when the catcher would be ready, he would tell him to take another day. As per the skipper, Trevino is in a position to take as long as he needs to get three weeks of games in.
