Red Bull Racing faced a shocking blow last week when team principal Christian Horner found himself at the center of a large-scale brewing controversy. The energy drink manufacturer company launched a probe after a female employee of the racing outfit leveled serious cross-border behavior allegations against Horner.
While Christian Horner has denied the accusations, the investigation is likely to prolong for several weeks. With the RB20 car launch on the horizon, clarity on Horner’s role within the organization remains unclear. Amid this, an F1 insider report suggests that the team principal has failed to garner support from his peers due to his strained relationships.
Christian Horner Reportedly Not On Good Terms With Red Bull Seniors!
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is currently under investigation for alleged cross-border behavior with a female employee. The parent company hired an independent barrister to conduct an impartial probe. While Horner has appeared for an initial hearing, the matter is likely to perpetuate for several weeks now. However, during the entire time, the Brit has been allowed to keep his position within the organization. And also carry out business as usual until a verdict is pronounced. Amid the unwanted drama, an F1 insider has dropped another bombshell update on Christian Horner’s relationship with team seniors. The reports state that Horner’s relationship with senior technical engineer Adrian Newey, senior most advisor Helmut Marko, and Max Verstappen’s parents is soured.
Therefore, so far, the team principal has failed to garner any support from within the organization. Many within Red Bull reportedly prefer Christian Horner to voluntarily step down from his leadership position. However, the Brit is defiant and continues to claim innocence. That being said, the rumors of friction within the drink-based organization are not a new affair. Horner had allegedly initiated a coup to oust Marko after the team founder’s death last year. Apparently, Horner envisions himself to lead the entire racing outfit alone. Thus, he intends to oust everyone who comes in his way. However, when the Brit was confronted on his severed relationship with Helmut Marko, he called the rumors baseless. Nonetheless, the present smoke is indeed coming from a fire. Horner’s future is up in flames even if he somehow survives this ongoing investigation. To be able to regain the team’s trust would be an uphill task for the 50-year-old.
Christian Horner To Attend RB20 Car Launch Amid Ongoing Investigation
Christian Horner is conducting business as usual within Red Bull whilst an external barrister decides on his fate. Even though the team principal remains under investigation, he has been allowed to resume office as usual. Moreover, as per Sky’s Craig Slater, Horner is highly likely to attend RB20’s car launch event on February 15.
“He has been in the factory for the last few days. He [was] at the Silverstone Circuit [on Tuesday] where the car is having its shakedown,” said Craig Slater. How this move will reflect on Red Bull Racing’s code of ethics and no-tolerance policy remains to be seen. But Horner’s future in Milton Keynes looks bleak per se.
